Oran Park GP Track Day-Sat April 29
Our friends at RENEW{a rotary club some of us are members of}have invited us to a Track Day on the Oran Park Grand Prix track on Saturday April 29.This may be your last chance to drive on this great track,as Oran Park is marked for closure.
Details at www.renew.asn.au or call Neil Trenwith on 0413 125 525.
They are a good bunch of guys,so you will have a great day.
They said if they get enough RX-8's they will hold a separate class just for us!
Cheers
Len

I can also vouch for the guys at RENEW. Good blokes and some really interesting cars amongst the members.
I'll try to come along to spectate for a little while MACCAA. Thanks for the heads up.

Bump!
I'm told there's still some spots open for this. Great opportunity for any Sydney guys who want to give their 8 a run on the track before the Nats or other events.

I've decided to drive down to OP in the morning to check out RENEW's track day and pick the brains of an MX5 owner who is attending.
If anyone fancies a drive Saturday morning and wants to come along, let me know.
General plan is to aim to arrive about 9.00 and stay for an hour or so and then return back to civilisation.

I'm probably setting some kinda record for being the only person posting in a thread but I don't care. Someone might be interested.
Cruised down to Oran Park this morning.
RENEW's track day was in full swing. Some wicked 7's and a lot of Skyline's (I think they were sharing the day with the Skyline club).
The GP circuit is fun to watch but you need a high vantage point due to the undulating infield. Love the turn coming off the bridge.
Some near loses on turn 1 and the wonderful sound of rotaries screaming their **** off.
Had a good chat to my new mate who owns a heavily modified (but not FI) NA MX5. It's even for sale . Had to keep thinking "mortgage, mortgage, mortgage."
When you compare the cost of one of these things, it's a much cheaper option if you don't want to burn money on the 8. Taking his as an example, he reckons it owes him $25K but he wouldn't be able to get more than $15K for it. And he was more than holding his own in Group 1 (I appreciate experience is a big factor here and he's obviously been at it for a while).
No 8's tracking. One other silver 8 there but it looked like it belonged to a spectator from where it was parked.
No sign of the Egg unfortunately but the other usual suspects were there.
Anyway, I'm probably talking to myself and you had to be there so I won't bang on any longer.
