Need.... More.... Patience....
Well I have purchased an 8 from John Newell Mazda. They had a V.Red on the showroom floor with some of the extra goodies like fuel lid, spoiler, wings, strakes, mats etc.... Aug 04 build.
nojooc was the sales guy and he is really good. :D
So, I get to pick it up tomorrow arvo (getting the teflon paint treatment and leather treatment done on it - once again thanks to nojooc organising it and probably bumping someone else off the waiting list because of my impatience).
So, I'll be tootling around sydney for about 1000km - 2000km then after that.... Lots of censorship! zoooom.....*beeep*....zoooom.....*beeep* well you get the picture.
Now. I guess i won't be getting any sleep tonight!

Brand spankin new. I think it has 6km on the clock. My wife and I chuckled while we were walkin out after signing the papers, as there was a few people ooohing and ahhhhing at the car that we just bought
bleah. approx 26 hours till i can drive my baby. I wonder if it's gonna be a HE or SHE car... gotta think of a name for it. No doubts it will come to me on my first drive!

Well I picked it up on Saturday morning, a day later then planned due to some network instability at 3 of our sites. Gotta tell you I was NOT HAPPY JAN!
So my wife and I got there in the morning, and nojooc showed me around the car. Stalled it getting out of the dealership driveway
and then stalled it at the toll booth going home :o
First impressions? It's a beautiful car to both look at and to drive. Bruno the dog loves the new car smell, however the center transmission tunnel makes for an unfomfortable journey (anyone know of some good back car seat covers?) First thing we did was take it home, pickup the dog and head off for a drive to Palm Beach. Got a bit worried however when the storm started to sweep over. Can anyone say HAIL?
After hearing about the lack of low down torque, I was plesantly surprised with it's performance but I realise comming from a 1.8 ltr '93 Astina SP, anything has to be zoomier. My parents love the 8. Dad was very impressed with the quality and said the first thing he's going to do is look for his dream Maserati (mum kept telling him NO. be sensible... yada yada yada... :D )
I love the feeling of the interior. Got black leather and the sound system sounds really good. Took me all of 30 seconds to work out where everything was and how to use them. It has more storage places than the astina, and maybe a tad more leg room for the back seats.
Havent taken it over 3.5k yet as I'm being careful during the first 1000km. Also have to get used to the car being a bit wider and longer than the Astina, as well the clutch, and better brakes. Also noticed the pedals are a lot closer together than in my astina which makes for interesting times with feet stomping all over the place :p Handling is absolutely super. Once the 8 has been run in I plan to test it out a lot more on the track.
All in all I am one very happy camper! I love my 8 :D

If your worried about the dog tearing up the leather in the back, just pull up the lower squab and store it in the boot....it's not screwed down.....just clips in. 5 seconds to remove and install.
idlol, heh i work in crows nest. there is another 8 i have seen around that is similar to mine. I actually saw it again parked outside garfish this evening on my way to the vet.
Gomez, pitty i didn't see yr post earlier. Had to clean off Bruno's blood off the back seat. The poor fellow got pretty much chewed up by another dog at Tunks park this arvo. The other dog also took a little chunk off my knee and hand as well whilst i was trying to seperate them. All's well, Bruno is on pain killers and antibiotics, i'm on antibiotics as well. Give you one good guess who got medical treatment first :D
Oh and Timbo, you are right. I'm still grinning!
