It really does love to Rev doesn't it!

Spent the day out yesterday with friends driving up through the back of Lake Eildon (if that is how it's spelt) and for 3 hours had the rx8 pretty much constantly above 7000rpm in a desperate attempt to hang on the back of an evo VIII & Subaru STI.

On the flats in the twisty stuff there I was right on the back of them with them never getting more than 15 or so lenghts in front, but on the mountain climbs especially those back road twisty ones they left me as though I was standing still. Those cars are made for that and boy do they climb well!

The RX8 really can handle and keeping those revs high it fires out of corners pretty hard. At lunch after all the fun, checking our tyres we found both the Evo's and STI tyres were showing signs of scrubbing where the RX8's where much like before we left that morning. The new springs and swaybars really do make a difference I discovered.

But to the main point:

After all that hard driving yesterday, and I do mean it was being reved pretty damn hard, this morning the rx8 is driving better than it has in ages. The renesis is reving out so much smoother it's increadible.

I can only think the car enjoyed yesterday as much as I did and all the reving just helped clear out it's throat because today it is certainly better!

Don't be scared to rev this thing... It loves it!

I just got the wife to read your post , so now she believes me that the RX8 runs best after a good workout , i have told her that the RX8 NEEDS PLENTY OF REVS AND I NEED / WANT PLENTY OF SEX IN ORDER TO RUN AT OPTINUM PERFORMANCE :D

The Evo is certainly quick, even the STI could not stay with it up the mountain, but after my short drive of it I would not want one. The fit & finish on the inside really is base lancer with lots of rattles & vibrations. Over broken roads it was horrible in the way that you thought the hole interior would shake loose. There is also no real comforts. After our 3 hours of hard driving both the evo and STI drivers were both pretty stuffed. I climbed from the cabin of the rx8 (which was belting out quality sounding music from Queens greatest hits cd's) ready to go another 3 hours... After filling up first of course :o :o

When it came to comfort I feel I certainly had it better than the other 2 by far. You can guess which car of our group up at Eildon had the locals attention... Especially the young ladies in the township :D Shhh!... Don't tell the wife :D :D

There is no better way to test the 8 out than to give it a good run. Good music choice too.
Irish8, you're approach must have been wrong to come close to gettting one in the chops. Good try though. I'll give it a go on the misses tonight.

I'm still gently breaking in my 8. I've only done 330km tootling around sydney at 3-4k. I can't wait to really give her a *beep* :D

Love the stares it gets though. Parked near a few Porches and BMW's the other day, and saw people checking it out and ignoring the other cars.

Your starting / warming up procedures could be in need of fine tuning :D and the timing of your delivery has to be adjusted in order to get optinum performance . Practice and persistence helps

cheers
