There was so much smoke I was quite concerned....it was so noisy and I was worried the car might jump off the bloody machine...Bruce told me they would tie the car down but when they didn't I was a bit concerned.....it skipped around a bit on the rollers....

Glad to hear that my results correlate! That's made my day.

Interestingly when it came off the dyno all the warning lights were on!!!! Slippy and ABS!! I think he got a bit of a scare......poor Maxie! I am really sad I treat this car like my child.....

Thanks Brettus for your comments though.....
Hey RC ,
It sounds like they didn't turn off the DSC ! That would explain the bucking etc & the reason he didn't take it any higher.
Do you know if they did the full 7 second press DSC disable ?

1. The Brap Sound.
The pre renesis rotaries had a peripheral exhaust port which the exhaust port would overlap with the area of the rotor housing where combustion was happening, so you get exhaust gasses entering the intake cycle.
The renesis is side ported so you cant get that overlap, hence a renesis cant brap. I would be interested how they got their car to do it.

2. Not Tieing down.
Any shop that doesn't tie a vehicle down when they dyno is risking the safety of their employees as well as your car and I would NEVER go back there. Also, if you dont tie a vehicle down it is most likely going to rock (as you mentioned it did) and as such you will get bad readings. Teh fact you were getting smoke from your tyres is to me SCAREY!

3. RPM difference
If the car was rocking then I would dare say that you have found one culprit, but the RPM on the dyno is based on the RPM of the rollers on the dyno and the rolling radius of the OEM tyres. Worn or non oem tyres will affect that.

4. Catback
All you are doing is opening up the very last point of the exhaust. It sounds great and honest tests have shown a few Kw gains but thats it. A few people feel the throttle is a bit more responsive but thats also subjective. Also as Rexi said, the Cat is your next point of restrictions, after that it should be the headers. But if you go that far you really need to retune the ecu and good luck with that.

I will step down from the soap box now

Andrew
Hi Andrew,

thanks for your comments....I should point out that it was an RX2 that was making the lovely brap noise not a renesis. Sorry .

I agree with you about tieing the car down, but they guy who did it is the best guy in town and his reputation as a dyno guru for rotaries is well known. I was just freaked that's all...seeing the car and worrying about the engine...silly me...

For Dbb the traction control was full off.....as we had to reset after we got it onto the rollers.

I only want a different exhaust for the noise I'm happy with the performance.

We only use the dyno for tuning..to make sure the Alfa is not running too lean at the high end of the revv range and to know when the power curve tails off.

I don't agree either with the dyno as a true judge of power, engine dynos seem to be better and flywheel power seems to be what Bruce talks about not at the wheels. They dyno engines only.....no car.....in a special room behind special glass.....these are really powerful engines and they get good accurate results from this.

Interesting though seeing peoples comments.

Remember Grizzly8 there are girls here so please be nice, no naked women or picking fights..there's two of us now and if you pick a fight with Kall you pick a fight with me too.....it's a forum not a place to bring people down!

Thanks for your comments though everyone...

Good points Andrew. I think they may have known about the braap-braap, as that was compared with RX-7's and an RX-2. But not tieing the car down

Clearly, Michael, you don't care how many people you offend on here. Pity, because I thought you were actually ok when i met you face to face. Your online persona needs some serious psychological help though.

Michael, I doubt she distressed mate, dont over estimate your affect on people. And it really doesnt suprise me that something so simple as to object to crass and crude behaviour impresses you.

Michael I won't reply to you again, however on this point i feel compelled to.

DO NOT IN ANY WAY THINK THAT YOU ARE SMART. YOUR BEHAVIOUR IS NOT WELCOME NOR WARRANTED.

You seem to enjoy making particular people feel uncomfortable. It's all very well to behave like this on an anonymous forum.

I will say this to you. Michael there are not many women who know anything about cars, let alone are interested in them to the point I am with the 8. I can only surmise that your behaviour stems from being threatened by women who like and can talk about cars.

GET OVER IT!! You are not funny nor are you polite.

I will not give you the enjoyment of responding to you from now on, you are obviously here for other purposes than to talk about cars.

Nuff said.

As we all know, Michael can be inarticulate at times. I think this is what he has been trying to say:

Cool Upsetting the locals......

Sorry.

There was some discussion among mods that L&L should be allowed to stay, (even though he has been previously banned) because he had changed his ways and was behaving himself, but I guess this particular leopard will never change its spots......

Michael, you have a pretty skinny idea of what a personal attack is.

I'm not biased, I just don't like cheap shots at the few women who are prepared to join us in here. Judging by previous posts in this thread, I'm not alone in that view. If that is taking sides, so be it.

FWIW, I have no hard feelings and I'm not bothered if you stay or are banned but you certainly are your own worst enemy when it comes to attracting the mods' attention.
