I was thinking the ING's rear bar as well. I quite like it.

I will take a photo side on so you can see what it looks like with the standard mazda side skirt. So that way you can decide which way you want to go.

I think Ing's rear bumper looks quite nice as well, it is QUITE similar to the MS one as it has the rear diffuser as well, that's the part I love! and I am sure many people will mistaken it as the MS bumper!

What's the rx8 spec that you have there? If you have the xenon lights, how are you going to get the headlight washer out? Is it possible to reuse it at all?

Mine is the leather pack. So it has the headlight washers.
They just unplug and I put a rubber cap over the pipe to block the water supply.
They are just part of the front bar.

 

I don't think you can use it. I realize now the headlight washer is pain in the ***. It dirty the car when using it. It is for the other people on the road it is in the law that all new car with xenon need to gain compliance but it is not required in aftermarket. So taking it out of the system is not illegal

I am going to get the MS front I think but I will buy the bracket for the fog light. You know about the MazdaSpeed front spoiler bracket for the fog lights? You can get it in japanparts.com

I will get the MS spoiler... but in intrim I think I can tolerate as long as it does not look extremely odd.

Expect $2400 or each item (front and wing).

I will post some pics of the car now I have the mirrors on. It is advisable to get as much as you can in each shipment as freight is a killer. That way the freight is distributed over several items.

My freight was $700, due to the front bar as it is a damn big box. So they pack the rest of the stuff around it.

Yeah I love the spoiler. It even has rotor symbols in the struts

DragToys is correct, the front bumper box is HUGE... the dimension weight for my nismo front bumper is like 90KG, so it will be better to buy everything all together!!! I bought parts by parts at the very beginning, and those shipping costs could have got me another spare front bumper, just not worth paying that much for the shipping each time!

Or you can actually share the shipping with a few more people who might want some stuffs from Japan! that will certainly help! I am not sure if I would to get some small stuffs too from Japanparts.com though... still wondering what to get next for the zed...

Am not sure about the legal xenon light colour though... thought all the xenon light needs to have head light washers.... thanks for updating me, that means I can go after market xenon light now... really hate the stinggy Nissan, didn't throw in the xenon light even as an option.

Yeah the dimensional weight of the mazdaspeed front bar is 120kg's. Just in case you don't know, due to the size they charge the price out as if it is a heavier item, even thought it doesn't weight that much.

To get mine landed, ie freight, taxes and processing it was $1100. Freight alone was $700.
So best to put extra items in the box. Or as Nismo said split it with someone else. Especially with the front bar.

And as far as I know it is the first MS kit in australia. I haven't heard or seen pics of any others. And one of the few if any with kits on it.

 

No you are not the first... but certainly first in the Australian forum. Seen 2 cars in MazdaSpeed kit in Melbourne already.

Don't think it is any more expensive if I order it through a mod shop. It is pain to order something overseas and fit it yourself if it is not significantly cheaper. Better to go through a shop as THEY carry the reposibility to make it right. You see!

I prefer to do it myself. That way you learn about your car and if something goes wrong you know how to fix it. Besides it is very easy to fit. and you get the satisfaction of saying you did it yourself.

To me it is a personal thing. I like to build my toys myself. Hence the reason I am building my drag car myself, and just getting the machine shops to do the bits I can't like porting and boring etc. But everything else I do.

Besides then you know it is done right and not some shop just throwing it on and not caring.

I prefer to do most things myself. It is more satisfying have done a good job yourself.

Gee, you know you are talking to a guy that does not own a power tool (except a polisher) .

By ordering in a shop, I don't pay until they fix it to my satisfaction. If I F it up, the overseas dealer may have a lot of obsticle.

I wish I could do them, believe me. I changed all the light bulbs in the car and I was very happy with the result. Hehe, I am easy to be satisfied mate. :D

By the way I know a mechanic (a friend) that I can do those things for me. But if the product is broken or scratch (on the MazdaSpeed wing for example), I have to pay for the repaint or shippment back to Japan for exchange - risky business: should leave it to the professional.

If there is significant saving --- about $hundards. Then yes, but about 1-200 bucks and you have to install it yourself and with all the risk involve. I rather do another day of work to earn another bodykit. I reckon.

Bottom end: DIY if I were capable. Shop if I stay where I am

nah i dont think so, not after lowered it 2.5" at the front. at the moment, i have 140mm off the ground from both side of the front bar and 150mm off the ground from the middle of front bar.

maybe i will get off my **** and make a new kit one day...... :D

looks great dragtoys! how do you get your car so shiny? dose it have the orange peel effect most mazdas have?

taka; to me the mazdaspeed kit is too low. another 30mm less clearance is hitting things instead of clearing them. I've pulled into alot of car parks and then check the clearance at the front and I reckon if the bumper was that 30mm lower I would have ripped off my front bumper.

 

No it doesn't really have any orange peel.

The car is actually a bit dirty in the photo.

I have to wash it nearly every day to keep it clean. The dust just clings to it.

I do give it a wax coat every couple of weeks.

As for clearance I don't have a problem.
I pass over speed bumps and driveways without having to go sideways or anything.

 

one of the +'s for getting a factory kit they usualy don't have huge over hangs that make driving impossible.
