Hi everyone!

I've been reading a few threads lately indicating that Mazda seem only to be good at oil changes and stamping service books. If you had the choice, would you get your car serviced/tuned at Mazda, or would you take it to a rotary specialist?

If any new updates come out for the 8, can the rotary specialist update the engine management, or is that something that only Mazda can do?

Updating engine management is something that currently only Mazda dealers can do. However I wouldnt let that be a reason no to use a "specialty centre". Worst case, if there is an update that you absolutely must have, pay a few $ to get the dealer to flash your car.

Personally after a few run ins lately I will never use a dealer again.

All the way with rotary specialists , dont use Mazda Stealerships , Most of the sevicemanagers and would be tecknicians know very little about diagnosing anything other than the very obvious , and they totally rip you off on part prices .

My decision to return to a dealer for servicing will depend on whether Artarmon manages to get MA to provide me with a refund (even partial) for the premature failure of my coils and plugs. If it's all just talk to shut me up, I won't be going back either. Premium pricing and poor response to various issues just isn't worth it.

Does anyone know a decent rotary specialist on the north side of Sydney?

Unless you require an ECU RE-flash. Use the Rotary specialist every time.

Since you are in Adelaide. REVS is your best option.

The propietor (Jason Uncovich) has an RX-8 as a company demo car & knows them well.

When I had my series III RX7 I went to Rotary Automotive, that was ages ago though, are they still around and as good as REVS?
