Looks like they have overcome this issue with S2's, I looked at mine the other day...clean as a whistle at 31,000 KMS or 19K Miles.

I know its been a while since a post on this thread, but just a note on th o2 sensor, after cleaning the oil out of my intake, I pulled out the o2 sensor and did notice a lot of build up on the wires. Cleaned with electrical contact cleaner helped making the car run a bit smoother.

Thanks for all the info!

:D Just cleaned the throttle body and did the coolant bypass in preparation for this summer. Haven't had a chance to drive her yet but the throttle body was nasty. (Has not been cleaned in 89,000 miles!)
I was very temped to bust out the ol' dremel and lightly port it, but I haven't read to much on that yet and as the car is my DD I will wait until I find some article on it, lol.

When you took your throttle body apart/off to clean it, did you need to replace gaskets or anything or just put it back. What are the torque settings for the mounting bolts?

Thanks!

So, I tried cleaning out the tb, maf, and intake. Noticed the grate for the air filter was dirty, looks like oil got in all 3 an probably the uim. I couldn't clean out the tb thoroughly so tomorrow I'm gonna try sanding the oil away in the tb, clean uim, and clean spark plug if dirty. In hoping this will get rid of my rough I idle, but I'm wondering, should I reset the ecu/ess when I'm done? Or is that unnecessary?

You should clean the MAF with electrical contact cleaner or MAF cleaner. If you used another type of cleaner it may not have helped as some cleaners leave a residue. I just spray my sensor without touching it, but some use cotton wool or similar. You gotta be very gentle with it. That will likely clear up a rough idle. Other common areas that impact idle are spark plugs, leads and coils.

My 8 when is idling it goes from 1.5 k rpm then it feels like its about to turn off, and the car rpm drops to around 1k-600 rpm then it catch itself then it goes back to normal. Is tho issue that I'm having what this post is about? Or is my issue Have to do with changing my plugs, cables and coils ?

Any of these things could cause your idle issues. If your car is hard to start when warm then the idle issue may be due to low compression. Also a worn engine mount (typically the right side) can make the steering wheel shake at idle which can make the idle feel rough.

When my ESS gets dirty, this happens to me, so seek out how to wipe that down. If you know where it is, then just go ahead and wipe it down and see if that helps.
Not my pic, but shows you where it is(see below). Of course without knowing how long it's been since you did a plug/coil change, it's all a shot in the dark.

I cleaned the MAF today but I still want to clean the throttle body. I am looking for a thread that shows it step by step with pictures. Also the dealership said the shutter body needs cleaning too???

Step one remove intake.

Step two remove throttle body.

Step three clean the throttle body.

And yes the SSV may need cleaning, there is a DIY for that.

This week I am going to try to clean the throttle body. Anyone know if there any other tools besides a Philips screw driver is required? Damn I wish there were a step by step video or picture instruction with this car. This should be in the manual under maintenance.

Honestly if you can't figure it out by looking at it then it would be best for you to just leave it alone.

Thats what I was thinking but it doesnt look like rocket science and money is tight. To be safe I worked on cleaning the MAF in front of my mechanic's shop. That was easy peazy. But I wish someone posted a video on a MAZDA RX8 removing it to clean it step by step.
