Ok, then. Must be a Melbourne saying...

I'm also a little frightened that Wikipedia has an entry for a brand of potato chips. Probably their marketing manager!!!

Slogans used by Lays.....

That's another reason to smile! Lay's Potato Chips (2007)
Food for the fun of it! (2007)
Lay's, get your smile on! (2006-)
Lay's. Want some?
Betcha can't eat just one (1960s-present)
Ποτέ δεν μπορείς να φας μόνο ένα! (Lay's Greece)
Lays ka mazaa lo(Lay's Pakistan)meaning-Have fun with Lay's
You can't eat just one....Lagi bet! (Lay's India)
Har programme ka main food (Lay's India)meaning- The main food for every programme
No one can eat just one (Lay's India)
A que no puedes comer solo una! (Lay's Mexico,Chile and Argentina)
Lay's. Vrei si tu? (Lay's Romania)
Лэйс - захрустишь,не устоишь!(Russia)
Kartą paragavęs negali sustot! (Lithuania)

Despite one unauthorised notation in Wikipedia (which is not authenticated), I don't see any "not as thick as some" in there... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lay's

Anyhow wheres the rationale to all of this?

The perceived thickness of a potato chip depends on its length. Consider a chip which is, say, 3" long and .1" in thickness. Now by any estimation that's one thin chip.

Now consider the same chip, but this time we'll take a bite out of it and reduce its length to 1", but we'll leave the thickness at .1".

So now what to we have? We have a very short chip - some might even say "is it a chip at all?" - but it is a chip and, relatively speaking, and a very thick short chip.

Now given the display of erudition (i.e. depth of knowledge), you'll see I haven't got the faintest idea where the expression 'not as thick as some' has come to mean of 'low intelligence'.

Despite what Wikipedia says no-one can confirm where it was first used, or by whom.

I rest my case.....

Well duh! guys . I got the slogan with a little help from Andrew's link. I'd just never heard anyone say 'thins' as a shorthand for it before . Must be the circles I move in...

I also think it's pretty sad that somebody bothered to make a Wiki entry for a snackfood.

I was going to wash the car this arvo because it's filthy but they're predicting more rain and I just cbf washing it only to see it look exactly the same in a day's time.

I've also decided my next rims will be chosen solely on how easy they are to clean. Too many nooks and crannies on my Enkei's!

I have been researching for a small (compact) car so I can turn the 8 into a pure track car.

I am going to wait until the 3 door Mazda 2 and the new Honda Fit (Jazz) before making decision.

Someone had to do it, and they are the two most qualified.

It's a win/win all 'round.... .

I was responding to taka, along the lines of "...consider the new Fiat 500.." as it looks like a ball of fun. Now, despite Fiat's 'legendary' history, I understand this will come with a 5 yr 300k warranty. We had a breathless 1.2L Punto in Italy for 2 weeks last year, and -- apart from the breathlessness -- it was a decent drive. Jazz is OK, but getting a tad dated. I'd take the 2, and taka, given the kids, go for 5dr.

Agree with Timbo and Michael - 5 door Mazda 2 or Honda Jazz would be my picks. 3 door way too hard with child access.

Not sure about the Fiat 500 though. That's one brand that's going to have to earn a spot back in this market for reliability before it comes up for consideration...

I have an old honda Jazz that I use day to day and it is soo good. Seats are more comfortable than the 8, air conditioning is better, saves me hundreds in fuel, can park it anywhere, and I can fit my whole bike in it for cycling trips twice a week while my mate has to take his wheel off to fit his bike in his commodore. Don't start me on the Jazz, I'm a big advocate!

I'll stick with the Mazda family, as I've got a 1982 323 Wagon to run around in and cart stuff here and there. Beaudiful!
