Well I hope everyone has a great New Year!

With a sub-tropical low pressure system blowing its **** off near the South East corner we will be missing out on our NYE fireworks at the Sunshine/Gold Coasts.

It looks like the Brisbane event maybe cancelled as well.

Gotta hate that...but it wont stop my wife and I cruising in the 8 along the Mooloolaba strip and stopping for a nice French champas or two to see the night out.

Have a great night anyhow....

Talking Happy New Year

Hey all Happy New Year to you all too.

We will be staying home...Bruce is sick with gastro... He's been driving the bus all day poor thing....I have been plying him with all sorts of concoctions to try to help....not nice being sick when it's 43 degrees outside!!!! Went for a drive earlier and when I got home...the fan on the car took 12 minutes to turn off...... Put the bonnet up to help cooling and sheesh it was hot!! Like when you open the oven door.

We will be staying home tonight for a pensioner evening...I might go out and wash the car though....one place it will be quiet and I can do my own thing....

Drive safely...and thanks for a wonderful couple of years so far

Hope your 2008 is great...

...and here's something to chew on -- Clarkson's review of the new BMW 130i -- for those contemplating a replacement for their 8.

I think you meant 135i Timbo, which makes all the difference.

They certainly sound like a lot of fun but I'm still struggling with the styling.

HNY everyone. Hope it's a good one...

er yez...cough, cough....

The styling...reckon it will need to be seen in the flesh...there is an element of ...er...Hyundai influence at the rear in some pics, but surely it can't be that bad

Also of interest is
BMW debuting a dual -clutch transmission dubbed the M - DCT a seven speed DCT co developed with Gertrag at the Detroit motor show in January 14th , if this dual clutch gearbox finds its way to the 135I it will definetely be worth a look .

The future sways towards the Dual clutch transmissions , look at the Nissan GTR35 or the EVO X TC SST .

6 SPEED MANUAL GEARBOXES becoming Dinasours in todays modern performance cars

Cheers
Michael

That tranny will probably be seen in the M3 first. The absence of a SMG model at launch was pretty spectacular, given BMW has had these in the M cars for at least 9 years.

The bad news on the 135i is that Australia will only receive 200 1 series coupes in 2008 -- that's both the 135i and the lower spec NA 6 cyl.

Agreed we should reserve judgment until we see it in the metal but it's not looking good to me. The rear seating is also a step backwards from the RX8 for those of us with steadily growing mini-terrorists. I'll also be interested to see the on-road price and whether luxuries like wheels and seats will be 'options' (those of you who have seen a BMW order form will know what I mean...).

BTW, just tried to log on to RX8club.com for the first time in ages to spruik next month's Sydney cruise and it wouldn't come up. Anyone know of any probs with that site these days?

Its been like that for three days now. The last time I looked there were very few hits, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Administrators have pulled the plug on it to see the reaction....!

...or alternatively the server could be full....

I usually swing through for a look regularly. Haven't posted in a while though. Has been pretty quiet for a while.

Will be sad if it goes lot of good people, just none of them posting and alot of them hanging out here.

Yep...we all know the RX8.club.com server is down....

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@rx8club.com.au and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

...somehow I don't think there will be any admissions !!!!

The .com.au site is down as one of their main servers bit the bullet. I know Phillip has been working on restoring the server since New Years Eve.

All things going well, we should have a transfer of ownership ASAP, a major cleanup of the system, some reassignment of roles/responsabilities and hopefully a more productive/proactive regional forum.

Cheers

Andrews
