iPod hack for RX8
iPod hack for RX8
Check this out.

If it works well, then it would be preferable for
me instead of the stock mp3 player.
Not that I am going to be the first to
try it.
I will wait until the Hymee enhanced iPod
hack for the RX8, then I will do it.

...and hack is right. Pretty hairy chested stuff -- not for the faint-hearted!
OVERLOAD was working on an Aux-In for the head unit. Have not heard for a while how this has progressed, so will PM him

I'll pass. I'm getting an Ipod, and I'm simply gonna use one of those cassette tape adaptors , and plug it in that way. I tried it with my portable mp3 player, and it actually sounds good, with no hacking. I guess for those of you without a cassette deck it isn't an option. For you guys who have gonads and skill, knock yourselves out.

OverLOAD is working on a plug and play solution (http://www.sylfex.com/products/auxmod/) and there also has been some success using an existing commercial module (https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/pnp-aux-solution-pie-alpine-adapter-31969/)
I don't like the idea of a) soldering something into the back of the radio and b) having to play a CD with nothing on it just to essentially allow the iPod to use the same line in as the CD.
I'm happy with my iPod and iTrip FM transmitter. I'm using 99.1 I think at the moment and other than when I took a trip towards Hamilton I haven't needed to change the frequency for driving around Melbourne.
As soon as someone finds a nice easy, no soldering, plug and play solution for the iPod that inlcudes a sensible mounting solution and allows using the radio display and steering wheel buttons I'm happy as it is.
