Interesting Murcotts & Mazda

Hi all,

Just had to re-schedule my driving training level 1 with Murcott's and was told that they will no longer be the provider for Mazda Days....?? Not sure why and of course the lovely lady I spoke to couldn't say either.....

I had to push my date back to May 26th which means on the 5th of April I will be in Sydney...so watch out TIM TAM!!

Apparently Murcotts will honour all existing bookings but after that there will be another provider??Not sure who....

Have you guys thought that the Level 1 was good? Wonder why Mazda have pulled the pin?? $$ maybe??

Julia, TT lives in the ACT.

Does this mean you will be in Sydney on 5 April with your 8? Sorry, just not sure what the connection is between the Murcotts thing and your presence in Australia's true capital.

Anyways, if time allows during your visit, I'll talk to Waldo and see if we can organise a little Sydney get together in honour of another interstater.

And yes, the general consensus is that the level 1 thing is worth doing, if only to remind you of some bad habits.

For any other RX8 owners out there who never received a welcome pack (which includes the Level 1 driver training day) - after reading all of the posts recently I got inspired and sent a polite letter to Mazda.

They rang me today and confirmed that I now have a welcome kit (including driver training day) in the mail.

I purchased my 8 in August 2004. Is this a record?

I bought by RX8 second hand, and the previous owner didn't redeem the driving course, but he couldn't find the welcome pack either. So I called up Murcotts and they booked me in based on the rego number.

heh heh, yep I reckon the average Canberran feels like a REAL winner every stinking hot summer and every freezing cold winter.

They must have surveyed the joint in the one week of good climate Canberra gets each year. Oh but of course, they probably didn't bother with a survey.

This 'loser' will try to console himself with a sail on the Harbour and a surf at one of his many local beaches...

The Harbour is all you have... It takes longer for a plane to get from the end of the runway in Sydney to the terminal, than it does to fly to Brisbane... Anyway next weekend is a chance for you guys to prove me wrong!

Canberra is by far the best and cleanest looking city in Australia.. Granted it is a little dull...

Melbourne is easy to get around (except for the "dodge a tram" game) and is rarely dull - weather can be challenging at times.. At least it is easy to find the Murcott training centre...

DOH...this is what happens when I am typing on cruise control....my mind wanders and I type nonsense!!

OK let's start again.....had to move my driver training as I am expecting to be in Sydney in April...for a conference for work....so if I have time away from the boss etc would love to catch up....thanks for the wonderful offer!!

Now I got mixed up and had a B moment and thought that TT lived in Sydney...isn't that the capital anyways?? So after realising that I was typing like a loon I can't be bothered to drive to Canberra....Been there once for a rally...that was enough...so TT you are safe!! Hee hee.

Looking forward to doing the Level 1 training...got my second date confirmation in the post on Friday of last week....will be fun!

Ciao' 4 now

okay, think I understand.

Keep us posted on your conference. We might be able to set up a mini meet 'n greet since you'll be in town anyways.

So we gave you the answer to the oversteer and understeer?

I could have told you what they have talked about on the level 1, since they have not changed since I did it when I was 19!

Well the videos they showed were 80's and 90's with Jim still speaking...it may be time to update that part of it....but it serves a very valuable purpose, there was a young pup in our group who had his licence for a week...at the end of the day he looked like he wanted to give it back!!!

I have been in touch with a guy at Mazda Oz after getting his details from the Oz forum.. he suggests I cancel my Murcotts driver training day and go with the new supplier...he reckons it will be more Mazda friendly...so will cancel and wait for other details.

Maybe if FOTW gets his pack soon we could maybe attend on the same day..??

Keep us posted Julia - would be interested to hear who the new supplier is and how the course they offer differs from the Murcotts one.

Would be great if someone who has done the Murcotts course would sign up for a refresher with the new mob - that way we'd get a better comparison.
