I Lost The Faith....

I Lost The Faith....
....but the prodigal son has returned.
For you long time forum members, you may have noticed (maybe not?) my absence of over 6 months.
I unfortunately lost my faith in the car that brings you all so much enjoyment and happiness.
I really started to have second thoughts about my 8 and wondered whether I had made the right choice in purchasing it.
Crap fuel consumption, poor idling, flooding the engine and various other "eccentricities" lead me to believe that I should have purchased something else.
It got to the point where I even walked into a dealership and seriously considered trading the car in for a Lotus Elise 111R.
But only being 6 months into a 5 year lease meant that I would have to hand over obscene amounts of money to payout my 8, thankfully the head overpowered the heart with this decision.
However over the last few months, I have been rotating between driving my 8 and various company cars on a weekly basis.
They say "seperation makes the heart grow fonder" and I certainly felt this way every second week when I jumped back into the 8.
Sure, driving 300kw V8's are fun, but as Hymee would agree, they are a completely different kettle of fish and are not without their "eccentricities".
But to cut a long story short, I have regained my faith and will be "practicing my faith daily".

Wilkommen back nojooc.
Anybody heared from Kev recently?
I've been away myself for a while, and can hardly believe the mischief that Hymee has got up to in the past few weeks. Call me fickle or a tart, but for a while Richard Paul with his axial flow was getting all my affections: no longer! Hymee has won my heart once more.
The moral: shop locally, get screwed at home!

All is forgiven.
Like you, I used to sweat the low mpg, which impaired my full enjoyment. I discovered a wonderful peace of mind when I was able to just stop worrying about it, put away my log of fillups and mileage calculations, and just enjoy the '8 for what it is. It sounds like you have reached that state of enlightenment.

It's bloody amazing what Hymee is embarking upon to increase the performance of his 8.
All the best to him and I hope it all goes well... should be interesting to say the least.

Thanks Hymee. Good to be back.
A more appropriate tag/plate would be : onjooc with the following in my sig :
"to exert pure dominance of the road and your competition WITH the aid of performance enhancing substances from the house of Hymee."
