One thing I have noticed is that I still have the same flash as when it left the factory - I thought that it might have been upgraded to Apana's version when I had the first service.. Especially considering that they handed out the WDS brochure when I collected the car that afternoon.. So maybe mine was the newer one at that time..
Can't take it for a spin tonight as the Finance Director and I had a glass of wine with dinner. We never drink and drive.. Tomorrow night I will con the Finance Director into driving while I stare at the gauges.. (Big Grin from Finance Director). Like the digital gauges - nice touch..
5.4 metres of cable from the car's connector to the laptop's USB port... Impressive - may have to get the deluxe model with the cable wheel to wind up the slack..
Thanks for the MPG guys... How's the Km's to empty going??

I use the same dealer as you, they didn't update my flash and I know there have been two since mine was last flashed... the posters are marketing only.
I'm making a raft of changes at the moment that will allow us to do complex calculated things in the future. I'm keen to have a trip computer for my next big trip... Wakefield.

Hey Sco,
When I saw you had replied to this thread, I thought you might have reall surprised us with something about a new US flash or something...
Like you, the dealer hasn't re-flashed my car at the last service (or since). I wonder if I will get one at the 60K service?
Cheers,
Hymee.

I revived this old thread as I have a new flash today after I had the exploding fuel tank recall done... Get this - it is NOT the "B" flash.. In fact, it seems to be an update of the original H for HOT flash from the factory... (see earlier in the thread)
The new ID is N3J6EL00013H6050
I hereby name this flash the Long Hot flash in honour of its discoverer.. :D :D :D

Looks like cars are on different series for some reason..
It looks like N3J6E is one series (2005 cars?) and N3ZKE is the new series for older cars..
I have the "L" version of series N3J6E and "B" version is current for the N3ZKE series...
This is ssoooooo interesting...

US has different flash versions for different model years. Would love to know what is different between the two.... it could be as simple as some minor changes due to difference in some parts such as one of sensors.

Yeah... "Help Sco"
Actually I could do with some help - guys it would be helpful if you could tell me what your fuel tank readings are with sCANalyser at full and empty.... or as close to empty as you're comfortable. If you can tell me what the empty reading was and how many litres to fill that would be helpful. Take the reading using the Digital or RX8 gauge, not the fuel gauge (as that does some averaging).
Let's take this to emails ... it's OT for this thread.

Speaking of flashes - wonder if it is worth those with scanalysers taking a reading off each car at the Nats so a little database can be built up??

Yeah right - I can see it now:
Scene - stinking hot dusty highway somehwere in the vicinity of b*mf#@k northern NSW.
Our heroes - sitting dejectedly in the shade of their cars, which have run out of fuel about 20kms shy of the next town.
The only activity - sco madly punching away at his laptop entering the latest data before giving the guys the good news that the trip computer software is now finished.
5 minutes later - sco wondering if he packed the medical kit and pondering the capacity of the human body to accommodate the forced insertion of electronic equipment.

I could get religious and mention that if it was a Java application it would probably be able to work on M$-Windoze, WinCE, Palm, Mac OSX, yada, yada, yada ....... but I won't - dodging incoming from all sides including Kanen8 - no the "sticker" is staying on the back window of my 8 (I like to think different for computers and cars, hence the RX8 and the sticker!) - no sheep here

Anyway when SCO and Hymee were looking at the initial development they had the .Net tools and experience, they are the code cutters - and they lead such sheltered lives! This is despite the protestations and cajoling from others.
So those of us with WinCE PPCs are waiting, and all the others have no hope - unless you have a Palm and are willing to ditch PalmOS for WinCE 5 as Palm and M$ have now bedded down together !

Given the scanalyser's requirements for a hardware interface I'd be surprised if Java would be as easy to port to something like a PDA anway. Theoretically, with mono you might be able to compile and run it on a Linux machine.
