No, not stock at all.

Tempted by the claim of 3" SS from cat back (removable silencers) said to sound good without the annoying drone & provide a few extra hp. I was a “guinea pig” as I didn’t know anyone else who had tried this setup prior. My choice.

My hot tip to anyone willing to listen is....... do your homework before burning a hole in your pocket (& bumper guards), otherwise be prepared to do the test work.

Cheers, happy motoring.

Umm ... looking at your pictures the tips are way too far back. The exhaust temperature is quite hot in our cars and it melted a hole in your bumper guard things.

Dodgy workmanship ... I wouldn't be happy with that. I had an issue with a so-called reputable shop a while back ... turned out they knew nothing.

Since then, I've been going to the same shop and they're excellent. I get to direct them as to what I want and oversee what they're doing. And Fred never rips me off!

I did consider getting HKS when I went shopping/researching for a catback system.

You might want to check out the Greddy SP2 or the Trust MX catback. I think they are decently priced and sounds ok. Similar design to the HKS, so if branding is not your thing, price wise the Greddy/Trust is good value.

are there any australian shops with exhausts?

the japanese exhausts are priced to high. it's cheeper from the US at the moment.

I can't belive no one is importing the trust products without inflating the price.

Why would they NOT inflate the price? They have gone to effort of bringing it in for you so surely they are entitled to make some money for their time? If not then bring it in yourself.

For the HKS try http://www.xspeed.com.au/shop/index.php?cPath=21_85

There are also people like RMS (www.rmsmotorparts.com.au) or Access Auto (http://www.accessauto.com.au/) who may bring it in for you.

thats because it takes alot effort to become an authorised dealer for any brand here in australia (so they can provide you with proper warranty).

.
I'm happy to pay a fair price. but when you can buy the products hundreds of $ cheaper in the US (taking into account exchange rate) the price is obviously inflated and it is worth my effort to order from a US store. obviously if the product is over $1000 then the picture is a little different but there are lots of exhausts in the usa that are well under $1000.

I will also pay a higher price for a local supplier but not so much I feel I'm being ripped off.

if you can import and sell the products in the usa for less than the jap rec retail price I can't see why it isn't economical to import them into Australia for slightly over the jap rec retail (which I will pay).

example:
I contacted the 5zigen importer about their exhaust. unfortunately when they showed me a picture of it and the price $1500 I deemed it to be to expensive. from the pic I jugged it to be worth $800-$1000 if it was in that price range I would have bought it straight away for convenience.

example:
Japanparts sell the trust mx for around $800 + freight. I can buy the same thing for around $700 + freight from the USA. why buy from japanparts (other than service and reputation)? and if I can land it myself for under $1000 why can't someone in .au do it? I'm sure for under $1000 they would still make a few $100 for a few hours work.

to be a true importer yes. but it also has benifits as well. lower wholesale prices and bringing in volume.

I had the pleasure of dealing with one local importer. I could buy the product for less than .au rec retail. but I ended up buying local for a good price that made him money as I thought the price (below rec retail) = the service.

He's disappeared from the forum but the Hymee exhaust in stainless for just under $1K is pretty good value IMHO.

I think some people are paying extra for the brand name and the image. Nothing wrong with that - these often aren't logical decisions.

People also seem to have subjective views as to what sounds better. Again, good on them but I personally have difficulty distinguishing the sound difference between some of the exhausts on the market.

And amongst the catbacks at any rate, I'm not aware of one that is claimed to offer more power than others.

I have almost purchased a hymee exhaust a couple of times but a few issues have stoped me.

sounds good but not what I'm after. maybe I do want the 'brand' thing for looks and quality. power I don't care about I just want a bloody loud exhaust for a change :D I'd love the trust ti-pe exhaust but the price to land one is to much IMO.

I'll probably end up with the trust/greddy MX system and a few other parts

The Hymee is plenty loud enough for me above 4K.

Let's just say that when I have a clear run home, 'er indoors can hear me a while before she sees me.
