I thought this would be the best place to get some advice about the problems my parents are having with their RX8
Here is the background info:
05 man rx8 first reg July 06 currently has about 10000kms

The problems:

26/04/07 - Taken to workshop on tow truck - steam coming out of engine bay-
Reason: Leak in radiator - faulty radiator - RADIATOR REPLACED

09/05/07 - Same problem - steam coming out of engine bay - Advised it was a
blown fuse. (Mazda now admit they did not check the fuse when the radiator
was replaced and have taken responsibility) FUSE REPLACED

19/11/07 - Same problem - steam coming out of engine bay - Told this time that
one of the sealed motors that runs the fans ceased and tripped the fuse.
Hence no fans working.

It is currently still sitting in the Mazda workshop

My questions are
- has anybody had or heard of this problem
- how much damage can be done to the engine with overheating so many times
- what do you think mazda should offer us (they are saying that there would be no damage and have offered an extra 12 months warranty)

Any info would be appreciated

 

Hmm well it does sound like Mazda did not find and fix all the problems to start with.
Certainly demand at least the extra 12 months.

My question is, does anyone bother to look at the gages when they are driving?

 

I am not sure if the guages were checked prior to the over heating. I don't think it would have made a difference, it was still going to overheat due to the problem

 

There is another fan failure that I know of. One fan failure in another sport model too. It can happen.

Ask them to check the reservoir unit too. Some RX-8 has them replaced.

 

i have same problem steam coming out of engine bay sounds like the fan is running constantly never turns off even before you start the engine the fan is constantly running

there is steam coming out of the front corner near the headlight as well any ideas what its going to be before i strip it so i know what generally to look for

or shall i drop some kseal in there
