Guess what did not start today!
Yep... Hop in this morning and nothing.
If they tell me it's flooded (the first thing they said to me over the phone) I am giving this car back to them for good! The last time I drove it was Saturday night where I went for a drive with a couple friends down to Arthurs Seat. That's a 250km round trip without stopping. I think it was properly warmed up!
I am starting to think this one is cursed
Question is if I get rid of this Daewoo pretending it's a mazda (must be because Mazda's don't have all these issue's... Right) what do I do. I was thinking of maybe getting another one, the bright side being this time I get a sunroof, but my confidence in Mazda is now just a little shaky. Arhhhhhhh!
The Mazda experience was not supposed to be this hard!

I've never had a problem with starting - though the starter motor seems to take a little longer than some other cars I've driven.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Just heard back from Mazda. Replacing the Starter.
While they have the car they are also going to tackle again the issue of all the interior rattles and try to solve a few more of them. Apparently someone for Mazda HQ is going to look at the rattles this time.

Mazda HQ sending a person there! That is good.
Nothing is not able to be fixed... I guess. They could replace the whole interior for you under warranty... :D
At least the car can still go after the starter changed... finger crossed.

So when you hopped in....it didn't crank? That's not flooding. Check your invoice when you get the new starter. If the part number of the new starter is N3H1-18-400A, then we will know that Mazda is supplying the new high speed starter in Australia. The "A" in the part number indicates the revised starter.
This is the starter that Mazda is using in the States to help overcome flooding.

Good point michael. Better check the voltage next time I have my sCANalyser near you. I can borrow it for the cruise and get Danielle to see if the Voltage is low.

Yes...I didn't quite understand the 'nothing' line...no starter crank at all? In which case, the problem sounds like a collapsed battery (which a bit of spirited driving can sometimes bring on -- but only to an already faulty battery)
But if it cranked but didn't start....well, we all want to know.
I have noticed my starter cranks a bit more since it last flash (which I guess is whatever follows 'G').
Interesting to hear about the new starter.....we need to keep an eye out, in case MA need to be 'educated'

Have the car again and is running. Mazda guy scratched his head and agreed the interior quality on my 8 is ****. He confirmed the following:
unacceptable noise levels (ie rattling/vibration/squeking):-
- Multiple issues around transmission tunnel front and rear seating positions
- Passenger door
- Drivers door
- Multiple issues behind Instrument Cluster
- Multiple issues behind Behind CD/Heater control console
- Multiple issues behind rear parcel shelf & seats.
I was told they now have to work out what they are going to do about it/how to fix it.
Seemed to pretty much be hinting that they would have to completely gut the interior of the car. If they do that I hope they put new everything in!
I do not wish to say everything he mentioned regarding his thoughts on my issues as he probably was more critical of the interior quality than normal Mazda line would allow. Do not wish to cause him too many hassles as he seemed like a pretty decent guy!
