Which Genuine battery is that?

I was going to post in a related thread, but I think this topic has sufficient merit to be deserving of its own.

I looked at my replacement battery after it was done with my starter motor upgrade...

Mine is an "Excide" with 660 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). It also had a "Mazda Service" sticker on the top of it.

Nothing too odd about that. 660 is a nice jump from 440 or whatever the old one was.

But then last night, when I removed one of the said replacement batteries out of a customers RX-8 while a s/c upgrade was being performed (sshhhh) and it was only 440 CCA (might have been 460).

The the next bit was even better. On the front face of it was a full size sticker:

"Genuine Toyota Replacement Part"

Now that is funny.
I know batteries are batteries, but this is quite humorous!!!!

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - Don't ask about the s/c 'cause it will only be denied :p

Say what?

Maybe we should all have a look at our replacement batteries.

Well, I received a Besco 450CCA. It starts like a rocket now, but one can but wonder at the logic...lower CCA for colder climes Go figure

660 CCA is just about right for the RX-8. The USA service bulletin for slow starting uses a 640CCA. They will replace the original if you complain loudly enough.

Got mine back today after the upgrade. Poor buggers were kind enough to wash most of the 2500km worth of bugs off the nose for me.

600 CCA battery.. 55D23L.. same as the US Mazdaspeed 6

Mazda sticker on it too.
