FURY out

Hi Guys,

Traded in my RX8 for a Discovery 3 today.

I will miss my car but needed something more practical for everyday family use.

Just thought I would say a quick goodbye and thanks for the interesting conversation and advice over the past 18 months.

Enjoy your cars

Sad to see you go. At least your Discovery will make the RX-8 appear economical.

I'm glad things worked out for you Grant. Missing your car will be an understatement. You looked after your car well and it has paid off.

I hope you can return one day when the family committments start to free up! It would also be great to see you at the Nats next year. Were just about ready to lock in the details, and if you keep an eye on the forum all will be revealed soon.

Good luck with the study....

Sad to see you go Fury. Family does come first though. I brought my wife a 4wd over a year ago so I could keep her happy as well. Thankfully I could hold on to my RX8.

With falling prices you may be able to buy a second hand one in the future.

Very good point skc...one won't have to wait for the 2010 RX8 for the price to come down low enough for most.

Everyone I've spoken to since they've sold their 8 say they miss it....but I guess its going to happen to all of us one day or another.

And I also see your point...it would be a pain in the neck for your wife to get bub in and out of the 8 all of the time. That is compared to the Discovery...

Thanks Guys,

As I said on the other forum, if I had a 3 car garage I wouldn't have sold it. I will keep my ear to the ground to see where it ends up and maybe buy it back in a couple of years.

Taka, I got the V8 - can't swap the 8 for something without a bit of fun in it, having said that the diesel is very good too. This makes DMRH comments very applicable, we'll see how is goes on fuel.

SKC sad I didn't make it out to the track with you but guarauntee that with the prices falling as you say, will end up with another one somewhere along the line and will be sure not to waste the opportunity second time around.

Trev, would have loved to help you out with Nationals planning I'm sure it will be a great event. I may pop out for a look, just to torture myself.

I probably will still hang around the forums and throw in the odd comment here and there.

The V8 is what Jeremy Clarkson like. Good choice.

I only test drove the V6 and it is disappointing and take lots of petrol at the same time... but the Disco is very well sort out inside. Drive excellent. You will love it :jealous:

I cannot afford the V8 nor the Diesel ........

Cheers Fury.

Hope to see you back with a replacement down the track.

Have fun in the Disco in the meantime...

Maybe another 2 Kalli - Not right away though one is enough to deal with for now. It's not so much the need for more seats just space to carry all the crap that goes with kids and still have room for other stuff like shopping etc. GOD I SOUND OLD!!!

Dave I will get a replacement of some sort, just gotta get a bigger garage first. Untill then I will have to make do with carving up sand hills at the beach in the Disco.

Well that is it,

The deal is done - I said goodbye to my beloved RX8 yesterday and picked up my new Discovery.

Two totally different cars, felt very strange driving home in a massive bohemoth of a machine about a mile off the ground after I am used to zipping around in the very precise and nimble RX8 a mere centemetres from the road.

At first impression of the Discovery you can see everything everywhere in it and it is very comfortable, bumps on the road are abosrbed nicely and it is a very smooth and quiet ride. The sound of the V8 is nice a world apart from the agressive sound of a revving rotary.

You all know what a Discovery looks like but I will put up a photo later - just for the record.

Have a good one

Great to hear of your new machine Grant. It would be interesting to know the difference in fuel economy between the two!

Fury,

I thought you will do an one last hug like in the advertisement before parting with the 8.

Yes I think dirty black looks good in the Disco. How many trips to Shell have you done now?

Nice looking car. Off roading is fun. Although I have only had one serious run at Morton Island. I would like to do more.

I am sure you will get a lot of enjoyment out of your car.

I hope the Brits have improved the reliability factor in recent years.

Good luck

I had a close look at a disco at Primex at Casino last year.
If my wife ever chucks in her job with the Hilux I will definitely be looking at one.
