OK - this is news to some, but it is already sort of advertised on someone else's web site: http://www.enginepsd.com/Hymee.htm

There is a HymeeEnhanced product coming closer to release. Sco and I have teamed our talents together. We are using a common hardware interface (OBDII connector and CAN interface), and a common software platform wth a plan of releasing a PocketPC ODBII Diagnostic and Logging tool, and not too long after a Laptop (Win32) version.

The graph sco posted results from his logging using preliminary versions of the interface software modules. It is a "newer" implementation that what I originally prototyped to proove the worth of the hardware I selected, and posted some engine performance/characteristic graphs on other threads. Good work sco

Hymee and Sco have not finalised a price on this yet. 3 basic components - CAN interface, ODBII connector & cable, Software.

The hardware is going to be a common peice of hardware for all future HymeeEnhanced diagnostic / reprogramming tools.

Cheers,
Hymee.

What! No Palm OS version I've had two iPaq PocketPCs which have managed to give me the ***** both times, with a combination of hardware (screen) and software (system locks up) problems ... but then again, I am rather entranced by the new HP iPaq 6300 ..... groan .... gadget gene keeps kicking in....

I can report that the G-flash most definitely does give me improved fuel consumption. After some months now with the G-flash, consumption is down from around 11.5 to around 10.7 L/100km on the same old going-to-work-and-lunch-and-shopping-on-the-weekends routine.

The reason we're doing PocketPC is that it allows us to easily share most of the code between the PocketPC and Windows application. More sharing = less code = less effort = less cost or more features.

I've been using Pocket PC's since Windows CE 2.0 days and never had major issues except with badly written applications.

Interesting thread guys - I'm going to have to observe closely at start-up/warm-up to see if I get the same things.

I had a complete engine management system change under warranty a couple of weeks ago - so complete that they had to reset the keys. I'd experienced a false CEL several times which they'd been unable to diagnose, but finally it came on permanently and the change was made. Not sure what flash was on the new one as I didn't ask - presumably the latest.

On fuel consumption, I've been keeping records for the past 12 months, and my long-term average is 15.46 l/100 km - around town I struggle to get under 17! I don't really mind - its that sort of car and I love to hear the engine rev, so I have to pay for it.

Final point - like Timbo I'd love a Palm-OS version of the (soon to be) latest & greatest Hymee enhancement! Any chance of porting to Palm-OS once you get it finished?

Excellent Smithers....... ! I get the flash tomorrow when I have the 10K service done. I've averaged 12.1l/100km over the 10000k's....23.3mpg in the old money.

I found this page which I have bookmarked for the conversions....quite handy!

Well, I had the 10K service today and was pleasantly surprised at the cost. $160 by City Mazda after they quoted me $210 months back when I rang to enquire.

I asked for the flash upgrade and I have done the "leg pump" test, they upgraded me from "F" to "G". I've done three starts since, idle settles down quicker and seems smoother. Acceleration to 6000rpm is "silkier" too.

Here's hoping the mpg is similarly improved.... :p .

Got myself a nail polish bottle of 27B Winning Blue touch-up paint while I was there....Oh, and thanks timbo.......I got the remnant Rotary Oil as well!

Got my 10k service yesterday...
My dealer at North Parramatta says that they did a PCM upgrade on my car however they don't know what the flash is? Apparently he says it came in a week ago.

Gomez did you have to persuade them to upgrade the PCM?

I am only doing the minor service with oil change Saturday. Will they charge more for an upgrade. I know they should be free on routine service but will they charge if I ask them to use the WDS on my car? I guess I have to ask.

Quick, sco - we need to get the scan tool out to find out.

Yes - our scan tool does display the current PCM "Calibration ID"

I guess you will all like a screen shot of our new digital dashboard?

Cheers,
Hymee.

Gomez, would love to fly down and plug in... but like Hymee will be doing some travel OS in the very near future. The good news is that I will have more spare time (and spare time is when I'm working on the tools). The bad news, for me is that I won't have my '8 to drive... and this means testing will be a challenge - however I have a solution. I'm developing an "RX-8 emulator" so I can keep working on the tools without a real car. This technology will also allow us to replay a capture in real time, so we can relive the fun of driving around the track by watching the dials we couldn't when we were trying to avoid a wackf@#k.

Any chance you got a sticker on the door or PCM with the new calibration code?

Greetings Gomez. Did your 10k service at $160 include parts? Mine was $210 including parts also from City Mazda! I was impressed with the results though.
Cheers

Yep, all parts incl 5ltr of Rotary Oil, one sump plug washer, one teeny tiny oil filter, and $11 of consumables.

Cheers, Gomez.

Thanks Gomez.

Looking into my crystal ball I can see Hymee stopping in at Aspley when he gets back from the US, upgrading his PCM, plugging in the scan tool and publishing the new Cal ID for us all to see.

Typically the novated lease companies have a maintenance deal where they get servicing done at "trade" rates.

I know I get 'trade' price on my services when I put them on my fleet card (not leased through esanda either). Was quoted $220 for 20k service in geelong but apon handing them over the fleet card was only charged $160. MMMMM very interesting seeing that the quoted price was supposed to be trade price as I had a trade discount form for them. Gomez you said you got some touch up paint. Doesn't it come with car?? or was that just Werribee Mazda being extra nice to me( I didnt ask for it!)??
