Cross-Forum Cruises
Hi all, I've had my 2004 model RX8 since may this year and soon after joined up on this forum and also OzMazdaClub.com forum. Although i have been watching this forum for a while and haven't posted anything, its been great to read for info regarding my car.
I'm making this new thread as I am an event/cruise director for QLD on the OMC forum, and would love to see other RX8's come along on our monthly cruises other than just my own RX8. I have also attended a cruise from AusRotary Forum (where only 2 RX8s turned up). We also have social nights at mid-month. ALL states welcome to join our forum aswell, and introduce yourself in the introductions section on our forum.
I will be inviting and posting details of our QLD/Brisbane monthly cruises and also inviting to our mid-month social nights.
I would like to see a bit more cross-forum interaction and will keeping an eye out for brisbane rx8 cruises from here. :-)
Any Questions please add to this thread :-)

Sounds like a good idea - I hope some of the Brissy guys get on board with that.
For some reason that sort of thing isn't happening in Sydney but I don't see why it shouldn't work.
I attended a cruise once, I think Ausrotary organised it, and it was weird. All these young blokes turned up in older rotors to the meet up point and basically just sat in their cars - no hellos, chit chat, nothing. Mine got a few dimissive once overs and that was that. I wasn't in the mood to play Mr Icebreaker with a bunch of strangers, so I just didn't bother driving with them and had an early finish.
I think if other clubs want RX8's to play, they need to make more of an effort to welcome them when they turn up to these kind of things.

yeah, well the OMC forum/club i'm in is my main one and only myself and 1 friend have RX8s that go on their cruises, and sometimes he comes with me so that just makes one. OMC have cruises in every major city, but i'll only be posting QLD cruises as thats where i'm from. Welcome to join forum just for cruise details if you like.

I've had the exact same experience on 2 Ausrotary cruises. Everyone just turned up to look bad and everyone ignored me like my car was ****.So as much as I love all rotary cars I won't be doing that again..

I might be wrong about that and don't wish to generalise unfairly but the impression you get is hardly welcoming. I think the RENEW guys are trying to change that (if only to survive) but sooner or later there'll be enough RX8's out there in the hands of the younger blokes who join these clubs to perhaps alter the perception. I hope so because otherwise these clubs will just die out - RX3's, RX4's and RX7's won't last forever....

the Ausrotary cruise from brisbane i went on was a combined cruise with a datsun performance club aswell. i know the qld leader and chatted with him for a bit then walked amounst the other old skewl rx7's (with young drivers) and datto's and chatted car talk. didnt have to ask names, just talked cars. perhaps different cities have different attitudes. i had a few ppl asking me to look at my car. main meeting point was 30mins from start to roll-out and everyone seemed to be talking to everyone and checking out each others cars. no one was sitting in their cars........

You might be right about different cities having different attitudes and as I said, I don't want to generalise unfairly but I've heard similar stories to mine from other people.
Feel free to post up pics if you want and I hope you have some success with getting RX8 owners along to your cruises and other events.
