That looks almost exactly like the red Mazdaspeed rx8 I picked up from BigW couple of weeks ago for $40.

Only difference was it didnt have the neon lights at the wheel, but pretty much anyone over the age of 10 would be able to rig up an LED on it

They are pretty challenging and definitely difficult to fly. I practised on the FMS simulator for a while before my first flight - even then, I crashed it straight away. I started practising with a tether cord and eventually you get the hang of it.

The was a couple of years ago, nowdays Im very busy with work and everything so I got myself the Draganflyer VTI Pro (here ). Cost me around 2grand but its absolutely awesome! I blew out the circuit board couple of weeks ago that I need to replace or get fixed - but yeah, happy to bring it to the next meet for a demo :D

I've been meaning to get into an offroad nitro car for a while now, but dont know what to look out for or where to start, maybe you'd be able to help me out a bit :D

Fair enough - I never had a go at things that fly.

Not knocking the hobby guys. Glad you enjoy it.

Kunz ,
If you could have more than 1 choice , I would have a buggy , a Monster truck and a road racer ,All nitro
The Buggy I have is ,in my opinion the best ,It is the only R/C nitro buggy to have an inbuilt turbo charger .The engine sounds almost identicle to that of a formula 1 .It spins to just under 50,000 RPM
The brand is a Hobao Hyper 7 .It has won a heap of awards and is adjustable in every way ;disc brakes front and rear , mid mount turbo /nitro engine , fully adjustable coilover suspension( damper ,height ,travel ) . toe in /out front and rear, all wheel drive
sway bars etc etc etc ..
I learnt so much about my own car just by fiddling with these so called toys
Its basically a scaled down version of a race car
The monster truck is the same , I have a Hobao EK4 which has the biggest engine in an RC truck (.90 out of a helicopter ) .Fully adjustable as well
My Tmax is another truck ( looking for an RX8 body for it ,It currently has a Ambrose BA falcon Body ) has a 4 speed gearbox in it
All cars are capable of speeds of around 80km/h
They are so gratifying to drive and you feel a sense of achievement when you are the set up mechanic and the driver
I dont thik I would be up to the challenge of a chopper
To many channels to think about ,All credit to you none the less

WOW Marlew, those links are tops!

The TMAX.. *droools* I did some a couple of searches on Google Video and Youtube.com and they look AWESOME. Especially doing all those jumps and stuff! Not as good as a helicopter but they look more like something I could play with it whenever, as opposed to making time for the chopper by going to the park etc.

The Hobao Hyper 7 does look pretty good. I've seen a couple on new ones on eBay for around AU$450. Should I get that as my first (nitro) RC buggy or is that a bit of an overkill for a first timer?

Is the buggy OK to drive on grass and gravel? Are you based in Sydney, if so is there a local hobby shop that has parts available if I break it? I'm quite impatient with things lol so I'm bound to break it in the first week trying to push it to its limits :P

I have a camera on my chopper too which I can fit on the buggy =P so I'm really excited!

The Hyper is the ultimate .Its something you olnly need to buy once .Parts are relatively cheap ,and they are completly customisable
The buggy goes EVERYWHERE !Gravel grass road and even mud
You are limited with the road racers and the monster trucks can be a bit tippy due to the higher centre of gravity .
The Hyper you can easily drive it as a novice as you can as a pro .
Ive owned it two years and havent harnessed ALL its potential
THe handling suspension tweaks are what spurred me on to play with this beast
During a jump you can adjust your tradjectory mid flight with the throttle and steering
I used to race trail bikes and the art of doing this is similar
Oh what fun
He who dies with the most toys wins !!Ha Ha

Oh nice! Are the stock suspensions good enough to take a beating for 10-20 jumps? :D

Is $450AU a good price you think? Where did you buy yours from (if you still remember) lol

PS - whereabouts are you located?
