Christchurch picnic - December 2013

Hi all. It would be awesome if we could get together for a family picnic in December. I'm thinking maybe the 28th.

What I need at this stage is some feedback as to -

- the date i.e. if lots can't make it we'll look at another date.
- how we can get some more people along.

Once we have a date I will make up some flyers to put on cars you see around and will also ask Indy Cars if they will do a email out to RX8 owners. They tell me they have sold around 40 of them.

I'll wait a week for some feedback then put up a thread with the details.

This has potential to be a great gathering and a lot of fun. The emphasis will be on family/fun/BBQ/making new friends and hopefully sunshine!

Sounds awesome and I hope we can get a really strong turnout to this.

Me and the wife are a yes at this stage (for probably any date around this time) and I can't really see us cancelling for any reason.

Does anyone have some ideas on how to make this a great family friendly event (maybe games to play or stuff to bring along?)

Seeing as you have the title sorted I'd keep everything in this thread Starion

Starion, you still looking for an OBD2 connector? I'm running a Kiwi PLX Wifi and DashCmd on my iphone 4. Let me know if you want to have a look at it. I'm in Halswell.

BTW, you got kids? Just thinking about whether I'd bring my two to the BBQ - they're 2 and 3.5(going on 20).

Bremma, we want to see your 7 at the BBQ! And if you want some practise with kids, I'll definitely bring a few along for you and the wife

Yeah sure, I can bring the 7 and the 8. The 7 will actually be going into hibernation not long after Xmas to get a couple things done so I'm trying to use it as much as possible in the mean time...

Have a 2 year old nephew as practice already lol.

Hi yes I am - mainly because I still don't really understand the difference between the connectors on trademe.

Thanks for the offer to look at yours - am keen - though I have an Android phone, does that make a difference?

I'll try come, work is crazy and I'm doing 60+hour weeks.

Besides, don't know how much longer I will have the 8

Starion, this is the mini version of the OBD2 tool I have (Wish I bought the mini because I keep knocking mine with my leg)

ELM327 Mini Bluetooth OBD2 Diagnostic Tool : Stahlcar - Auto Diagnostics

I keep knocking my PLX adapter out too. I'm thinking about getting a right-angle OBD2 extender cable off ebay so I can put my PLX unit out of sight behind the dash.

Starion, this is the app I showed you last weekend:
DashCommand - Palmer Performance Engineering, Inc.

And this is the Android version of the PLX cable I have:
Kiwi 2 Bluetooth

On topic again, if my latest batch of brew turns out well I'll bring some to the BBQ. This hot weather is playing havoc with my yeast infection.

Someone that can't afford a gf, an 8 AND a batman

Slidin8, if you really want to keep the 8 when you get that house there are definitely some options that'll help ya. This serious **** talk is best done with beer, not a keyboard. Hit me up at the BBQ or on the phone if you want a quick rundown. I'm thinking along the lines of Kiwisaver deposit (x2), family loans, EQ damaged houses, flatmates...

I think Brettus is into investment, so he may also be able to help ya if he's feeling charitable, or maybe you want to save any brownie points for some tuning advice

True true.
Looking at the weather even this far out it seems like it may not be BBQ/Picnic weather for the 28th. Maybe we will have to change the date?

I'll be in Auck 2nd-11th, but don't let me stop you. Maybe we should just change the name of this thread to Chch Lounge

Good news - after a very successful Xmas day I hit the wife up (just verbally) about getting a 2nd hand Greddy kit some time this year and didn't get slapped. Looks like that Evo turbo project may be put on the shelf permanently. Total result!

Has been hard to nail down a good day weather wise so far this summer...
In other news the Mazdaspeed front now has a dent in it (and paint cracks)
Got backed into today by a guy in a white Camry (gonna get it fixed through insurance hopefully)

Boo for your car. It least it wasn't your fault, so she probably still loves ya.

So since my last post there was this Greddy kit up for sale...and now it's in transit to Chch.
