I'm with RACV and I only had to add another $200 to my existing $580 insurance. I'm 27, and it's only costing me about $800 for my insurance (fully comprehensive). Plus its pay by the month, with an excess of only $350.

If you are real keen, and think you won't prang your car @ your own fault, I'd go with AAMI, pay up front but increase your excess to the max ($2k) and you'll get an even cheaper deal.

Although, I feel every cent is worth it on this baby of mine.
