Hehehe.

It is an intercooler, and those are only normally used with forced induction. What I cant tell from the picture is what form the compressor takes (i.e. supercharged, or turbo charged).

I looks faster Michael - you know just how Yellow ones look faster than Red ones, yet Red ones are actually quicker

Cheers,
Hymee.

Anybody would think you guys have got something against the under bonnet tupperware look!

So that's 4~5 psi ... then we're talking standard rotors and other internals?

I'd expect it could be tweaked a bit further with some internal work.

Do you know what they've done with engine management and exhaust?

Nope this is where the journey begins.

Some guys I know from a kiwi rotary forum got to go for a drive in the test car.

There are also some crazy turbo ones from RE Amemiya.

Give me some time I will get tpo the bottom of it.

But my thoughts would be 280hp @ 4-5psi 'should' be able to keep the stock ecu.

'should' be able to

The Blitz compressor does about the same increase and they said you can keep the stock ECU too. Why not pay a 1000 bucks more for a tunable one from Ric? I just wonder tune it better with Ric I will get much smoother h-t curve.

Guys, would the stock ECU even have fuel and ignition mapping to support forced induction of any sort, even low PSI? I'm not sure that it would. A tuneable aftermarket ECU may be required to cater for positive pressure! Any thoughts?

A PS is not exactly the same as a HP, but pretty close:

hp
According to the most common definition of horsepower, one horsepower is defined as exactly:

1 hp = 745.69987158227022 W
The horsepower was first used by James Watt during a business venture where his steam engines substituted horses. It was defined that a horse can lift 33,000 pounds with a speed of 1 foot per minute: 33,000 ft·lb·min-1. (This is equivalent to approximately 15,000 kg at 30 cm.)

PS
This unit (German: Pferdestärke = horse strength) is still commonly used in Germany and central Europe, although not an lawful unit any more. It is defined by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig as:

1 PS = 735.49875 W

PTB http://www.ptb.de/

Source can be read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower

Nice mod. I would like to play with positive displacement forced induction on a Rotary

Cheers,
Hymee.

My thoughts too. I've read elsewhere that the stock ECU does not have any maps for FI.

I did the math in another thread (forgot where and I forgot the actual numbers), but I calculated that the OEM injectors will support about 310 crank HP.
I don't think the PCM will know what to do with that much air, but a piggy-back like the E-Manage can turn on the fuel delivery for the 3 or 4 PSI that would yield that kind of HP.

BHP = brake horsepower. As there are four of them BHP is more than HP.

According the lastest Option Japan Magazine that Kight Sport Supercharger is 285 ps at crank. Nodel Ni PE3000 Supercharger.

Trust makes turbo Re-Amemiya has 260ps with TD06-18G turbo with retune ECU (REDOM v. 2)

Should be more later on!
