What did you drive before you got the RX-8?
I'm curious ...... what did you own/drive before you got an RX-8?
As most of you know I am still on my before car - a Mazda 323 SP20.....only about 6-7 more months to go on the savings plan (no progess this month - IBM T41p notebook instead ).
Do tell

I got a Honda Civic '99 for my 17th Bday ($19000), got a set of 17" alloys and tyres for my 18th fitted on the civic, and got an early 19th (still 4months away) present, which is a red 8.
after driving the civic, i've already wanted an Integra Type R for my 18/19. but when i saw the ad for the 8, and the girl i liked at the time was crazy bout an 8.... so guess what car i begged my parents for? :p
still 8 months til i rid of my P's

Traded a 94 BMW M3 for my 8. M slightly better in a straight line but the 8 eats it in all other aspects. Really enjoy driving it when the DSC is OFF OFF & not just OFF.

First car was a 2nd had Peugeot 309 poverty pack (when I was still in the UK).
'96-'97/'98
Used either a Mazda 626 or a Toyota TownAce. They were my wife's and as I'd just moved here I didn't really care.
'97/'98 - 2000
First Australian car was a Ford Festiva. Had a low paid job, so just wanted something to get me around the place, not too expensive etc...
2000 - 2002
Toyota Celica SX 6 speed Manual. Raven (dark blue/black).
2002 - 2004
Mazda MX-5 Garnet Red.
2004 -
Titanium RX-8.

Over the years I’ve had about 20-30 cars, so I won’t list them all in detail.
The first was a 1930 Austin 7, and the last was a 740 Volvo. In between were a big spread of makes including Holden, Ford, Morris (minor, mini and moke), Hillman, VW Kombis, Dodge (1940s), Renault, Peugot, Triumph, MG (several), Jaguar and Mercedes. All fun cars in their own way, and all bought “used”. Some VERY used.
Never had a Japanese car before, but by coincidence we now have 3, and we’ve finally clawed our way up to buying new. We currently have one of the last of the Mazda 323 Astina hatchbacks, a Nissan X Trail, and the RX8. All great cars for their respective jobs.
The RX8 is the most recent technology, fastest, etc. but some of the old bombs still hold a more special place in the heart just because of the fun I had with them, and the stages of life they represented. For instance, how could I not still love the 1952 MG TD I had as a student, and which if you removed the back of the seat, rolled up a coat for the young lady to lie back on, and … whoops, sorry, who wants to hear some old fart reminiscing…
Cheers,
Chris

I thought this was a short list.. but not quite..
1991/1992----1974 Toyota corolla( stock as, got written off )
1992-1996- borrowed cars of parents :D
1996-1999--1986 Toyota Corolla( not too bad with some suspension mods)
1997-2001 1975 Toyota Corolla(one of my all time faves- no power, no style, no refinement, but set up to handle and stop)
2001-2002- 1987 Nissan Pulsar- complete nightmare
2002-current- 1975 Gemini rally car(love it to death, even though it costs me a fortune!)
2002-2004- Pugeot 306 GTi-6 (g/fs car- loved it)
2003-current- VS commodore ute (to tow aforementioned Gemini, and practice big powerslides :p )
2004- RX-8 - love it to death as well..
Rowds
