Buying RX-8 Advice & Should I get an RX-8 now? (merged)

Of course I am a firm advocate of "if you can afford it, have test driven it, and reckon it's fun, go out and buy it" approach.
Unless one is completely devoid of senses, the pain of the purchase price is quickly forgotten after the first spirited drive around some twisties. At least that was my experience with the 8
--- and I paid for a pov pack more than they're asking for leather and sunroof today

2004 model Leather Trim with 42,145 kms selling for $54,990 .
2006 with leather packs are going for $49,990
2007 Brand new = $54,000
On carpoint/carsalesyou'll find them cheaper by the dozen.
I think I'm in the wrong job.....
I recently bought an '06 ex-demo 8 just after the price drop, but the dealer was willing to sell me a new 07' leather, sunroof, 8 drive away for 54K. So I think you're within the ball park. I don't think you will get it 52K or any less. (IMHO).
It's likely to be a 2007 build then, if not a 2007 plated car at least.
Interesting that the dealer is still prepared to discount so much so soon after the Feb price drop.
Competition is a probable answer. There are just so many good cars out there at this price range. Unless someone is specifically looking for a rotary, there are choices choices galore. I was similarly distracted but the 8 is what I wanted .....

Well, to sum it up, the RX8 is a 2003 car ... there have since been vast improvements.
If I was going to buy a car today, I'd most likely get an Audi TT 3.2 or wait until the A5 comes out.

Where as 3 yrs later, a 80k TT would get u around 45k, meaning a 35k deprication!
RX-8 still wins.
Alternatively get the Golf 3.2 cheaper than the Audi 2.0 turbo.
Same engine, same suspension much better interior.
The TT does look good from outside though.
THe 8 is a much better place for the driver to be.
