Unhappy RX-8 Submersible

So I finally got rid of that annoying new-car smell. [Insert joke about the 8 being notorious for flooding].

The Harley copped it too

Thanks for the posting tip expo1

Thanks. Yep I'm covered. Just waiting for confirmation that the car's a write-off. It's salt water from a tidal river flood, and actually went higher after I took this shot.

BTW how do I post a decent sized photo directly in the message rather than a thumbnail link to a 100kb-limited pic?

You need to copy the photo to web server / image hosting service other than this one and use the insert image button. In the pop-up box copy the full web address to the image.

Ouch. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Have to say though... great photo... the lighting effects courtesy of you turning on the hazards and all the lights looks really cool. Minor consolation, I know

Aaaargh... noooooo......

That's terrible. I hope you get a full replacement and not some kind of clean up job.

I have to agree with the comments about the quality of the photo though. Nice shot. I think I'd have been too annoyed to hold the camers straight.

Thanks for your comments all. Hi Gomez - yep our cars were siblings from the same boat. Guesss I should have stayed in Melbourne, huh?

Actually I think I've ruined a very nice tripod too!

Like they said nice photo. The fooding with salt water makes it unusable. However the sad thing is that it will wind up being "restored" and sold to some poor sap. It would be nice it they made sure it gets parted out. Like maybe the engine could be sold off cheaply to someone like me for R&D.
I'm a little to far away in this case but still the thing should be taged so as not to be sold as a good car.

You know what? You could save that car, just put it in equaly deep fresh water. Not joking, it really could work. You might still need new seats. That does not consitute pre loss condition. So you don't have to take it back. But if I knew what I was buying and it was cheap enough it might be someones way to get into an 8.

This is the worst case of an RX flooding I've ever heard of :D

All the best on a replacement.

Thanks again for your positive comments and comiserations. I got most of my other stuff upstairs in time, except the Harley of course. They were both taken away yesterday which was kind of sad. Just over a year ago I watched my car come off the back of a truck and now it's been dragged back on another one, likely never to be seen again.

Ah well, it's just a car. The positive side (and it's a biggie) is that all of a sudden 18 months and 25,000km will disappear. To the future! mikeyr, I'm tempted to change colour so I can fully feel that brand-new car experience again, but I'll probably stick with red to be sure I'm not dissapointed.

The Titanium Special Edition looks interesting though. Has anybody seen one in the flesh or know a dealership that has one (Bris, Syd or Melb)? I'm not sure about all the shiny chrome accents or the beige door trim for starters. Then there's the sunroof, which might be fun but could also look cheap.
