Buying a new RX-8 Revelation
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking at buying a new RX-8 revelation (in Sydney) and just wondering if u could point me to a few respectable dealers from your experiences that are good with customer service and after-sales service, and are fairly negotiable on price.
Thanks

There don't appear to be any standout dealers in Sydney. Most people have had both good and bad experiences although I guess Rockdale seems to get more bouquets than brickbats.
Short answer - no substitute for shopping around, learning lots from forums like these about what others are getting (both in terms of sale price and aftersales service) and demanding things get done properly - a lot of the service centres seem to be experts at telling you something has been done when it hasn't (or at least not properly).

You need to separate servicing from sales, IMHO. As far as the sale is concerned, present yourself as a cash buyer if you can, and don't accept the first deal presented to you. Shop around, and let them know you are shopping around. Or, if you want, engage a broker. There's been some good reports of deals struck by brokers, saving the buyer >$5k, for a fee of $500 or similar.
I'm not sure about the Revelation, but L/Ps with sunroof have been as low as $56k. That suggests a Revelation should easily be had for sub-$60k. Good luck!

Hmmmmm. Maybe they aren't as popular as the dealers would have us believe...there are only 100 of them and they've been on sale since January.
Wonder how they'll go come resale time seeing as they are hard to move brand new?

It may just be that the niche for this niche car has been temporarily satisfied.
I think there will always be a market for the 8 but it will gradually shrink as those that want this kind of thing buy one. It will shrink further if Mazda allows it to be overtaken by other, newer, more powerful options.

Mazda has always used a 'limited edition' marketing strategy, whether it was the original Series 3 Limited, the FD 'Bathurst' or various MX-5's. Usually a slight cosmetic differentiation to maintain margins, IMO
