Brisbane Motor Show
Well its that time of the year again...the Brisbane International Motor show and whilst it wasn't the same calibre as the Tokyo Motor show there were some nice cars to be seen. First thing was first....get the complimentary real coffee from Mazda, then a closer inspection of the 40th Anniversary. I was surprised to see the level of interest.
It was near impossible to get anywhere near the mob...believe it or not the RX8 is still one of the most popular cars at the show.
The $430,000 Bentley Continental and the Lincoln with the electronic digital door pad also attracted a lot of interest.
The most expensive car at the show was a beauty. A 1971 GTHO...going up for a Shannons Auction next week for a possible $780,000.....
Anyhow here are some of the pics....enjoy.....
Whilst the MX5 attracted some interest....you can see the RX8 attracted the most attention....
I wasn't impressed with the cloth inserts....they'll get dirty real quick
....the $430,000 Bentley....
...and the jewel of the night....anyone got a spare $780,000 laying around? To think we could have bought one for a fraction of the price in the 70s...!

Just a couple of more pics....the Bentley...the digital door entry code for the Lincoln and '08 RX8 dash with that cool stitching.
I wonder if you bought and moth balled the limited edition 40th Anniversary how much of an valued asset would it be in years to come?
Nothing like the GTHO of course, but in 20 years you'd never know what it could fetch....

And those aren't cloth inserts on the 40th ed seats .... that's Alcantara!... which is the fine suede produced through tanning the skin of a crilyc

Sorry I missed you there Trev.
Funny I did not even think about the Lincolns attracting that much attention and the door locks. Being from the states originally Ford/Lincoln has been putting those things on their cars over there for years. Nobody uses em that I know of, faster to use the remote push button on the key ring. Though they can save you if you lock the keys in the car and remember the code. And the PRICE you would think they were something special instead of a very tired design that has been around for years.
There was an article on CNN/Money and thread in the general forums up top yesterday about special edition cars losing more in value than the standards, so in 20 years it might be worth less.
I got a bunch of pics I will post up later today and put a link up if anyone wants to browse them from the show.

She wants me to trade for the MX-5...and I'll bet I'm not the first (or the last) in this predicament.....
Just for the record...I'm holding my own but with concessions....

I went along today and it was a disappointment. not as many manufacturers and not that many concepts and displays as a couple of years ago.
that lincon key pad was a joke. after a few uses the keys would have wear marks; and why not use a key fob remote?
