Bright blue xenons?
Bright blue xenons?
Hey guys,
I've noticed that lots of other Japanese cars have bright blue xenon lights that look really good at night, while our RX8's only have a whitish tint to them. I've seen a couple of bulb kits on ebay for changing the xenons to blue. Is it legal to use 9000K+ bulbs?
Also, can someone tell me whether these are ok for our Aussie RX8's, and also if there's a guide to replacing them?
Thanks,
Sid

The bluer tint comes at the expense of "actual" light output. The blue bulbs put out less than the stock, and the purplish ones are mostly decorative!
If you go "aftermarket" I would (and did) stay under that 9k figure you quote. You need D2S style bulbs, and the best way to get at them is pop the plastic rivets on the forward edge of the wheel well, this lets you get to the back of the projectors. You can then see the covers (and warnings!) twist off, twist out the wire harness, then unclip the bulb.
Check out my 7500k bulbs in this post, much less light and very blue.

Hey kasar, they aren't blue but if you want to lose the yellowish globes from your fogs, parkers and reverse lights, check out this thread:

I have changed the fogs and reverse globes (okay, Kunz did it and I got in the way
) and shall shortly do my parkers (a bigger job). Makes a big difference - matches the xenon headlights well.

I got a hell-of-a-deal from a forum member - RotaryRasp.
No markings on the bulbs, and no indication where they were bought, you might contact him.
Just know they were 7500k rated, and still 35 watts, same as stock.

, but i got 12000K light bulbs on my car and they're amazingly bright with blue purplish colour, i love that colour even though its a defect, i show u some pic, i change the whole interior light, reverse light, number plate light, and front parker light to red colour, used to have HID on the fog light, but have to take it off due to aftermarket front bar
, i think the best brand for light bulb is PIAA, and i always use them, PolarG is a very good brand for park light, always trust japanese brand....
