Brake pads need advice
Brake pads need advice
Thinking of changing front pads to EBC greenstuff priced $260.00, my rear pads are only 40% worn i would change them as well however so far the EBC crowd only has front pads for the RX8 CAN someone RECOMEND ANOTHER BRAND THAT WONT brake the bank .
Is changing the front without the rears ok??
cheers

Axxis Ultimates. Ceramic enhanced performance brake pads.
I changed my rotors also. These are really nice pads. They are really popular in the M3 communty. They have a slighty higher coefficient of friction than stock, and will work at hotter temps. They only have fronts available now. They are quiet also.

I thought DBA only have rotors?!?!
MazdaSpeed brake is good for stock rotor only. They go up to 600 degree.
They are about $250-$280 a pair shipped. It is kind of expensive.
I am into Japanese ones so Project mu and Endless will be used for the DBA rotor.
They are about 28000 Yen so just less than $300. They are much better for track than MazdaSpeed as they have temp up to 900 (for P.MU Level 900)
EBC green is a good brand but my friend GTR use it for track and burned it off ina day. It was hard to dig the GTR out of hte kitty litter. :p I am sure local brand are as good as the Japanese ones but I have no idea about them, that is all.

U'r right on DBA being only rotors but Dave has some great reviews on pad/rotor combos.
Do you have the 4000 series and mu pads on yours now? Have seen the Mu pads here in NZ, wondering how much the rotor's set you back? Much improvement?
M
Must be a good mate if you dug him out of the cat tray! LOL, get a photo next time, right place for a GTR:D
I am planning on getting the 5000 series front slotted and 4000 series slotted for the rear. But my pad/rotor has not worn out yet. I still have the stock rotor with MazdaSpeed pads. When one of those gone... I will put P.MU with DBA rotors. The prices that DBA Steve quoted is similar to the one I quoted from Local Autobarn. Must be the RRP.
I wonder how much better of the 5000 series cf the 4000 series, it is essentially double the price.
Do you know how much is the replacement rotor cost from Mazda? I am calling to get a price....
I am going to give you a shock...
These are the prices for the STOCK brake pads and brake rotor replacement costs. (not inc. labour)
Front $495 each
Rear $265 each
Front Brake pads $166 pair
Rear Brake pads $110 pair
There you go

I have edited the thread above
You see the prices from Mazda are the stock rotor and pad replacements
Mazda front $495 to replace. DBA steve 2 piece slotted rotor $465. Easy choice there!
Single piece slotted. $242
I am not replacing my pads and rotor at Mazda for sure

Probably no TSB's issued by Mazda Australia for the pad problems. In the U.S.- they've extended the service if you complain to 36 months 50,000 miles. They repalce them with a new softer compound organic pad set--save you lots of money http://www.finishlineperformance.com...6-04-1369b.pdf
Which Endless brake pad do you have?
EDIT: Centrax has a clearance of the old Endless model earlier on... the model is NA - something. NA-S?
Did you get them cheap??

For everiday use i am looking at getting HAWKS HPS OR HP OR FERODO XL or FERODO FORMULA .
HYMSTER SHOULD LOOK INTO MAKING A CONTACT WITH THESE brands of pads when he goes to the U.S
Fast track driving is not only about relyng on your brakes for great lap times .

You might be surprised how good my pads feel on the road. Since they work from 0 degrees, they have good stopping power when cold. And I reckon they work better in the wet than the old ones.
I might have a brake pad offering soon...
Cheers,
Hymee.

Well worth the money I reckon, one of the most important parts of the car in terms of saftey.
