I made that mistake when ordering mine from the US. Had to return it and get the 4 point from Japan...

No, never had that problem - mine have worn pretty progressively too.

Fair enough, we can only report back what we've each experienced. Mine has been positive thus far re: EBC's but happy to listen to others...

 

For what it's worth I use Endless CCR pads. They perform as well as OEM when cold and bite very well when warm - no track work but some spirited mountain driving. They are noisy and a bit dusty (not much worse than OEM though) but I can live with that. I can't comment on wear yet but I have done around 15K kms on them so far and the discs seem to be holding up fine so far.

I have used EBC Green Stuff in the past on a different car (E36 BMW) and found them to be poor cold performers and adequate when warm but they didn't last very long, chewed through discs, and despite being marketed as minimal dust, they dusted a heap.

 

I've heard similar about the Greens - Red is the way to go if buying EBC.

Went to get my new brake pads fitted today and inspection of rotors has confirmed the fronts are shot and the rears need machining.

I'd like to source cheaper ones from O/S but no time now, so will just have to bend over and cop it - $232 each for slotted front rotors plus fitting and another $120 to machine the rears.

And of course also received the happy news that although lubing will temporarily quieten them down, the piece of **** Whiteline end links I fitted have also had it (after 18 months and maybe 10-15K kms!!!! ), so I'll have to source replacements for those too...thanks to those who recommended them - I hope your wheels fall off!

Well, pads and rotors getting fitted today and to solve the end link problem I'm re-installing the OEM fronts. The rears are still ok, so i'll leave them on for adjustability purposes, etc.

So, should be all good for the weekend. And i'll go faster with a lighter wallet!!!

 

So how many km are you getting out of your pads?

 

I probably should know that but I don't. Hmmm, maybe 15-20k, including track days.

How do people remember this stuff? Do they write it down? Keep a spreadsheet? C'mon, fess up...

 

Ah, the fun continues.

Mechanic rang this arvo to advise his supplier had stuffed up and slotted rotors delivered today are wrong size. Will get right size in on Thursday arvo and will fit them then...

Starting to cut it pretty fine on what was supposed to be a bloody pad change!!!!

 

i hope you'll have time to bed them in...

 

I haven't looked at mine for a while. just 40000km still on the original brakes but at the end of the second set of tyres.

I don't have a big call for brakes around here.

Cannot believe they could deliver the wrong size twice in one week but yes, when you're GALACTICALLY STUPIDO, apparently it's possible...

My poor mechanic is just about in tears, he's so frustrated with them. Hopefully, will get correct size delivered and installed tomorrow, which means I've got to double back from work to pick up the car and then drive down...*********!!!

 

I'm guessing that post had some therapeutic benefits Dave?..............

Rotten luck with the stuff up.............hopefully sorted tomorrow. We are still on track for the meet up on Friday.......hoping you will be too.......

I needed to vent.

Yeah, very little time to bed in brakes but hopefully they'll be ok.

I'm still planning to make it but if it's gone 5 and I'm not there, head off without me...

 

Should have gone Genuine Dave...would have had them by now...would you like the part number...oops...

 

You guys must be incredibly hard on brakes. I drive my RX8 hard and have just had 90000k service done and there is still plenty of pad left. I always heel and toe when slowing down Gearbox still ok.
