in regards to the scraping, ive lowered my car significantly with coil overs and scrape a fair bit. is could be the cat, the chasis rails or some part towards the back of the car (not too sure what it is)
looking underneath the car you should be able to see what is scraping (the cat is a little hard to see)
ive noticed my cat heat shield is looking a lil buckled, hopefully nothing too major :S

I don't have the part number with me, but I don't think it is over $200. Ringwood Mazda actually have stuff up the order and get me the front one first. Not the middle. I am very sure it was under $100 because otherwise I would have not returned it for the middle one that I really needed. I am pretty sure it is around $60 now.
Ringwood is way cheaper than Max Kirwan. Most of the stuff at Max's are marked up +++. Do you belive a $10 difference in rotary oil and $7 per coolant concentrate?

I just dropped my car 1.5 inches from stock height today (im such a *****) so I feel your pain!
since I have an aftermarket midpipe, thats the lowest thing thats scraping at the moment.

Unfortunately there isn't that much you can do. Raise the car a little, perhaps put some reinforcing runners along the place where it is scraping... OR get a jackhammer out of hours and chip away the hump you're getting beached on!

Ok, this is probably right up there with the dumbest questions I've asked in here but what do you guys think about this:
I've got to park the car atm where the access has a humped driveway. No matter which speed/angle/etc I take it, the car bottoms out (i.e. between the wheels - not either end) and there is a God awful dragging/scraping noise which makes me shudder each time. I make it over ok but am getting concerned about whether I'm doing serious damage.
Will the car survive this kind of treatment? - it's only for a week or so and I'm trying to limit movements in and out to no more than two a day. What am I scraping exactly - something sacrificial or something very expensive?? Is it chassis rails or something else? I've tried looking underneath but it just looks exactly the same as usual - i.e. black and dirty, lol...
BTW, this joint has a car stacker in it - very cool space saving idea - just don't stand up too quick when you get out of the car!!! Ouch!!!!

The only way to really overcome the problem is to drive around it, or take it at an angle....one tyre at a time. 
The Councils in their wisdom think they can solve the hooning problems by putting speed bumps or diversionary islands into residential areas, but all they encourage are for the hoons to use them as a racing chicane, and better still plant a patch of rubber off them.
This is one of the main reasons we discourage them in the first place...

Well, I survived the week or so of beaching the car on that humpy ******* driveway only to badly kerb the rear rim when parking in a strange dark street the other night. ****! 
I hate the heap of **** atm and feel like burning it!!!

All of us have experienced this, I sometimes scream and smash something with my fist! (preferably something soft)
The upside is its a bit of a adrenaline rush, and sometimes like an orgasm....it feels good and never as good as the first time.

Hi takahashi, think i suffered the same problem with my rear cross member as you and auzoom. last time i go to church - hooked myself on the bit in the middle of the gates
Managed roll back off it and got the piece off - couldn't really see what it was doing though. Would it be additional stiffening cos it didn't seem to be protecting anything? So i'm now in search of a replacement - any idea of the part number to save me all the hassle at the garage? Cheers

ok so maybe cross member is the wrong term - anyways it's one of two pieces that cross the underside mid section of the car, each about a foot long with two 12mm bolts on each end. Are we talking about the same part?
