Nats Travel Arrangements for Southerners
Ok guys, for all those NSWers, ACTers and Vic's who are attending the Nats, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone wants to travel in company, etc.
Personally, I don't want to drive the whole way up on Friday and all the way back on the Sunday, so I'm planning to leave Sydney around mid-afternoon on the Thursday and drive up to Coffs for the night and do the rest of the drive on the Friday - easy. Then do the same coming back - down to Coffs on Sunday and the rest of the way on Monday morning, leaving early. You'll lose the equivalent of 2 days off work instead of one but you won't be so shagged with driving and will probably enjoy the weekend more.
So, who's up for that kind of itinerary? I'm thinking just a cheapie motel in Coffs to sleep, shower and eat before hitting the road again. If enough people want to commit, I'll make a booking.

I don't know much.. but is this a big rotary meet??
If so, do any of you interested in covering this event for RCC Digizine?

I suggest Herblenny's post gets moved to the 'official' Nats thread, so others will see it and perhaps put their hand up to cover the event for him.

And remember I've got room in my car for at least two of your track rims.[/QUOTE]
Ok,thanks for that.I have an idea(off topic a bit) but I might put those second hand semi's on that I bought at Wakefield and just drive there and back with them?

It's about 6 hours from Sydney, so I'm thinking of leaving Sydney between 2 and 3 and getting there around 9ish. Allows time for a late dinner. Aim to get away the following morning no later than 8am after breakfast, so we can get up there nice and early and relax a little before the track day.
As for coming back - no mad hurry on the Sunday morning - we'll be recovering methinks, so if it's a 10am getaway, that still leaves plenty of time to get to Coffs. Monday - different story - I'll be keen to get back, so I'll be dawn patrolling it with the aim of getting back to Sydney around midday.
We can fine tune the timing and meet up points once we know who wants to play. As I said, I'm flexible but that's the general idea I had about the trip up and back.
I'll start a little list in the first post of who is interested. Comments and suggestions please about route, where to stay in Coffs, timing, etc...

Doubt that'll be a problem Trev. Skanky GC meter maids don't do it for me. Can't believe they still persist with coin hookers to be honest. I suppose foreign tourists might like the idea.

If you looked you'd find the thread with all the info. Your own previous post was moved there. Can we make it any simpler for you?

Ok people, I want to look into some accommodation at Coffs for Thursday night (2 Oct) and Sunday night (5 Oct).
Happy to book for others too but please let me know by Wednesday this week what your requirements are. If nothing heard I'll just do my own thing.

Wife not too keen arriving in Coffs that late so we will see you there. We would be happy to stay at the same place as you tho to facilitate departure on Friday morning. So please book a room for us or at least let us know which place you choose.
As for the return journey, we are planning on staying a few days extra so don't need accomodation on the way back through Coffs, but thanks for the thought.
Looking forward to it, car in today for "race prep" Basically means the fluids get checked and they make sure nothing is liable to fall off Oh, and a racing wheel alignment
Cheers

No sweat Tony.
I've arranged to stay with a friend at Coffs, so suggest you make your own arrangements. PM me your mobile though and maybe we could meet up after breakfast to drive up to Qld together.
I'm also undecided now whether I'll stay in Coffs on the way back - may stay with another friend in Lismore instead.
