I am simply advising of my intention to go for a drive on Saturday morning in order to see whether anybody else was interested in coming along. Frankly, I've lost interest in trying to please the many different whims of the Sydney contingent.
I'll be going irrespective of response and to be honest if I have to fly solo that won't bother me a bit.

Actually - you're right. The Sydney contingent are pathetic. Unless it matches their precious little lives they don't bother to join in. I don't give a crap anymore.
Glad I'm not NSW coordinator for the Nats!
Looks like I'll have a nice drive tomorrow morning.

Sorry I missed you Mike, Muzz. I didn't check the forum before I left this morning and since I didn't have any text messages, I figured the word hadn't got out on the SMS group thingo.
Call it a false start and we'll try it again soon. Of course, it needn't be me that gives the shout. If any of you decide you feel like a drive get the word out.
Had a good blat up Old Pac Hwy and back . Cold but the roads were dry and very little traffic. Got a good flow going and pushed hard through some of the better twisties. One sphincter puckering moment when the back stepped out on what seemed to be an oil patch but good ol' DSC saved my ***.

Bloody frightening when my oil pressure gauge dropped to ZERO!!! No oil light warning. Turned it off, re started and came back to norm. Hit a garage and topped up the oil, not a whisper since!! That was Parra, about 5 hours agao. Need to get it serviced anyway, will make it soon!!!
Annoying thing was i had to buy oil! And my brother had 3 5l packs for me when i got there. (Lives near Newells!) Bugger!!
Good to hear you had fun. Bung me a PM with your mobile, I seem to have lost it again!

Taka,
Nope!!! that was the scary bit. Looked like an electrical fault on the guage. Just crashed to zero.
Stopped checked the manual and restarted, was fine for about 2 k then crashed again. Found a servo, added some Havoline....may the lords of rotary have mercy on my soul .... and it was fine after that...
I was close to towing!
No light, am going to check the oil light bulb in the daylight.
Weird!

Sorry Dave, it was a bit too late when I read your post. Next time, let my know via PM and i'll get the word out ASAP.
Actually, even better; I have to appoint a couple of people who can manage the list and broadcast etc as well without me having to do it.
I'll send it the login details via PM.

Thanks for sharing re: oil light. Let us know if you ever get a diagnosis. What was the level on the dip stick when you filled it up at the servo?
PM on way with mobile.

Your PM received - thanks.
For those on the SMS group - I'm gonna try a test message later today. If you don't get it, let me or kunz know. I'll repeat this warning on the appropriate thread.

Was pretty low, this 8 drinks a little more than my old one!
Have booked it in for service on Wed and I'll get the guys to check it out.
Looking at a 5.5m ish Trailcraft Bowrider or Cuddy. Fishing and family! (and the boat yards aren't as hungry as i thought they might be at this time of year!)
Your SMS worked by the way

So a mini-stink boat then huh? Fair enough.
The closest I get to fishing is trailing a couple of lines with lures off the back of my skipper's race boat when delivering it back to Sydney after a passage race. We've caught some great fish that way. I sail with a crazy Swiss bloke sometimes who loves sashimi. The bloody things are no sooner over the side and he's carving chunks off them.
Mind you, then there was the time we forgot to bring the lines in when we got to Sydney after a trip from Coffs. We had a bit on and were bloody tired after one of the quickest deliveries I've ever done from Coffs (touch under 30 hours). After a couple of gybes we remembered the lines and worked out at least one line was probably around the prop by then. Some fancy footwork going back around the other way did the trick and some now redfaced sailors pulled those lines in without further drama. We never told the skipper - he worries too much anyway. Ironic thing was that we caught nothing the whole trip because we were probably going too fast!
Thanks for advising re: SMS.

Actually, we're looking at giving everyone on the SMS Group the ability to generate messages. Just a few questions of privacy and security to work out.
