Beware of Franklins Trolleys...

Hi,

Just in case you didn't realise RX8's and shopping trolleys don't go well together, checkout this pic.

Parked outside Franklins at Rosebay and returned to find this nice addition to my passenger door. Ahh!

Anyway, can any Sydney based owners recommend a decent body-shop?

Cheers,

Pappy

Feel for you Pappy,
I have a scratch about twice that in length thanks to some moronic person that has no respect for a decent car. Parked in a supermarket, ran in to get something, came back and some one had opened a door on to my passenger door and got in or out of their car, making a nice mess for me to get fixed. Worst thing, bastards know they did it as I can see where they have rubbed it with their fingers too see if it would come off!! They could have left a note!!

Sorry to hear this. Try the dealer as they may have a recommended repairer. Good luck!!

It really pisses you off doesnt it. I have had 2 minor scratches on my passenger side as well as 2 small dents.

I have ordered a touch up pen from the dealer for this. I hope it works

Thanks guys.

Yeah - stuff like this does give you the sh*ts. If only people were a little more careful...

Anyway - will be speaking to a few bodyshops next week - hopefully all they need to spray is the door. Will keep you posted.

Meanwhile I'm endeavouring to recover costs from Franklins - so far they've been helpful but haven't yet admitted liability. Worst case I have to cough up the excess.

Pappy.

I bought it back up as we hadn't seen Pappy for a while and he's just posted a thread about his warped rotors....so while he's here, I thought I'd ask how the repair went. I've got a blue one too, so I'm interested in knowing how difficult it is to colour match this colour....

I had a similar problem 2-weeks after taking delilvery - a large dent in the driver's door. Unfortunately I only realised that it must have been caused by shopping trolley a few week's later when I noticed that the underside of the driver's mirror was also scraped. Too late to take any action against the supermarket. In the end it cost me $450 and 3-days without a car. Some people are just ********.

Gomez,

Haven't repaired it as yet - Franklins is still being rather uncooperative, the latest communication has them passing the buck onto their so called trolley contractor. Now this contractor has come back asking for more quotes and details. Unfortunately with work being rather busy, I haven't responded to this latest request.

Two quotes I already have are for around $1,900 but this involved spraying the entire side of the car. No one appears to be interested in just working on the damaged door - colour matching is the issue - but hey, the car isn't that old, hasn't had much sun exposure, and I'm sure Mazda can supply a Winning Blue can of paint which would be remarkably close to mine!

I might just give-up and go through the NRMA and pay my excess..

Can anyone recommend a good paint-shop in Sydney?

Pappy

Try Rigoli's at Forest Rd, Bexley.
I use them at work and their quality is pretty good.

My drivers door got crashed into by a kid on his bike a few weeks ago. Lucky for me the parents left a note. I got two quotes - one for $370 and one for $600. Both say they need to repaint the door because the scratch goes all the way to the metal. Colour matching is the issue.

It sounds like they are going to pay, which is good news for me. Fingers crossed that they don't stiff me after I've had the work done.

Sorry to hear this - damn, it's hard keeping a new car "new" or is it that the RX8 attracts this type of damage.

Queen Street Smash.

Ignore the homies and fully sick spray jobs outside.

The painters are top notch and produce some of the best paint jobs i have seen.
