Best time to buy

Hi guys, just would like to hear some of your opinion on when it is best time to buy the car?
I heard it's good around Feb, coz normally the dealers might do a quick deal to meet quota for the month..
I'm planning to purchase sometime around April but will start shopping soon.. I also heard around June-July is good coz of financial year etc.
with RX8 do u guys reckon it's worth waiting for the sat nav option to be avail in oz as it is one of the options I would like to get or do you think the mazda dealer could put it in later once it becomes available?

I'd say the best time (if there ever will be one) would be around Aug-Oct, I seem to remember Mazda having a few sales around that time in 2003. I doubt you'll find much going in the first half of 2004 though, as from memory, some colours had a waiting list of over 6 months late last year. Your best bet is probably calling around, seeing what's in stock and then playing dealers off against eachother and negotiating the best deal possible. Hope this helps.

Before you make any decisions to buy, contact me & I will organise you (through a friend) a bulk buying deal.

To date my rotor friends have gotten excellent prices from a certain dealer in Sydney.

Base = $57500 on-road
Luxy = $63500 on-road

These prices are during the high demand, low supply period of the 1st 12 months.

Come mid year & I reckon even better deals can be done.

Now would be a bad time to buy (for deals) as the European market just got the cars in NOV & they are are screaming for a big share of the 8000 cars-per-month Mazda are making. You know what that means for us too.

I'm not even sure whether or not Sat-Nav is going to be an option for the RX-8 in 2004. For one, there probably aren't any maps of Australia to put in it to begin with. Mazda's initial response when they were probed about it 6 months ago was that cost would be too high and demand too low to introduce it into Australian RX-8's. So it may never be an out of the factory option on our cars - just like the sunroof.

I believe that it will eventually become an aftermarket accessory though. I'd definately check with Mazda, or you could be waiting forever.

BTW, the factory Sat-nav setup does not play DVD movies. It only plays the Sat-nav DVD-ROM discs. An aftermarket DVD player is still required to play movies.

Wildcard, yeah I understand that they don't play the movies but it's so much nicer to have the genuine part for this coz they fold away nicely =) I saw some sort of after market product which enables u to watch TV and also hookup dvd player to it though..
that option might be viable if the Sat Nav option is coming our way.. ( i really hope mazda brings it) even if I can't get it when I get the car, I hope they can fit it afterwards and not have to build it in at the factory like certain luxury cars like BMW etc...

Same for me. I eventually want to be able to play DVD movies and maybe even watch TV in the car. I agree that the Mazda screen is far and away the best solution, especially the way it folds away from view. That's why I am waiting too. I done really want any other sort of screen on the top of the dash.

Hopefully it will come to Aus this (almost said next) year. I hope the price is okay too, but taking a look at the rest of the RX-8 aftermarket parts catalogue, it has the potential to be eye-wateringly expensive!

hey DMRH, could you tell me which dealer that your friends were able to get a good deal from? you can PM me if you want.
I dropped by at local Mazda dealer today, apparently the salesman was telling me that there is fresh supply of new batch of RX-8 just arrived at the Sydney dock which is good =)
apparently the sat-nav, he thinks is gonna be a nono for us...
unless they bring it out later and stock fit it which would cost more...
