most well know/popular brand jap designed and manufactured kits have increased air flow/down force of the vehicle at high speed.... so i consider that as increase in handeling/performance :D therefore, i would call it ricey.... meh... each to their own

ezzy, the exmaples you listed as factory options are not exactly the bolt on bolt on plastics that this thread is talking about.

I'm with AMG (gag), I don't like any of the kits, including the std Mazda one. I do have a soft spot for the MS front bumper and Euro boot lip spoiler though...

Japan BestMotoring refer the MazdaSpeed as function and helped when tilting the MazdaSpeed wing upward for better stability underbraking. Extra Downforce  :D

Bodykits and other cosmetic enhancements considered rice?
I guess it depends on what one's interpretation of "rice" is.
Bodykits, aluminium fuel lids, alloy side sills, etc are not considered "rice" in my book.
They are cosmetic enhancements which allow an owner to customise their vehicle and differentiate it from the crowd.
If it is perceived as "rice", then HSV, FPV, AMG, M-Motorsport, etc, are responsible for an awful amount of rice over the past years.
So much so, that I would say between all these "tuning houses", their annual output of "rice" production would be higher than a small Asian country. :D

Why do you think the Porsche open their wings at over 80km/h then?
There must be something at 190kmh right?
BTW: What do you think of the air vent in the stock front bumper. The oil cooler side is ok I guess - as the whole surface is exposed.
How about the radiator side? Will the aftermarket front spoiler do better on this aspect? A wire guard is inculded too!
I guess unless it is doing 200kmh+ the side and rear diffuser is for looks only - but boy it looks like 30ps gain when having it on
