Beep sound .

I just had 5000KM service, and starting to push hard on my car, i don't know what rpm i was at,(maybe it's around the red line) and i hear this beep sound everytime i shift. Is this normal ??

8is>enuff 07-29-2005 10:20 AM

The beep is normal. I happens at 8500rpm to remind you to shift.

Shifting at redline on every shift is not normal, though. ;)

On a completely unrelated note, you should really give some thought to reading the thick book that came in the glove compartment.

RX-GR8 07-29-2005 10:26 AM

beep once a day and keep the mechanics away. :D

guy321 07-29-2005 10:27 AM

it's annoying when im driving across country and it's beeping one long beep the entire way :(

8is>enuff 07-29-2005 10:42 AM

Shift, guy.

guy321 07-29-2005 10:43 AM

Cant shift higher than 6th!!!

8is>enuff 07-29-2005 10:45 AM

Are you leaning on the horn?

guy321 07-29-2005 11:05 AM

Lol, J/K :)

Welcome to Australia BTW!

You have to watch the beep though it can cause a six step chain reaction...

off the loud pedal
on the clutch
shift
off the clutch
loud pedal to the metal
grin

.. that last one is the problem... after a while your cheeks start to hurt.

I notice that since I have just passed 4,000 kms that the engine is reving to the redline much more freely - I have to hold back in the city that second gear is way too fast... :)

On another note,

does anyone know where I can find a Monster Rice Tacho.

It'd go well with my new Veilside stickers.

Some help please. Thanks in advance.

mattzen 07-31-2005 03:47 AM

YES. I'm eagerly waiting to cross the break in barrier. I'm at about 300mi. I wanna hear the BEEP!

sco 07-31-2005 04:05 AM

Don't rush mattzen and lazymark... break in is a little like foreplay... enjoy it for a while before you go after that climax at the top of the rev range.

whats wrong with the factory tacho?
an aftermarket tacho is actually a very useful device (if didnt come with the car).... so i wouldnt call it rice.
the word "rice" can be over used sometimes

you can get external shift light with differenr rpm "pills" to set it alight at certain rpm ;) check out the autometer range or give rocket industries a buzz

RXP33D 07-31-2005 05:33 AM

Chillax Ezzy.

I'll let you in on the "Rice tacho".

It measures RICEness of the car.

Its a joke. Please don't take it personal.

There's nothing wrong with a factory tacho, but if i didnt have a tacho

I would no means go and purchase a 'Monster fully sick tacho' that can go on my ROOF/BONNET!

Cheers.
Tuan.

EZZY 07-31-2005 05:40 AM
