Been away a while.....
It's been a while since I last logged in.
The usual excuses - work, health, weight (I ballooned out to 108kg - back to 96kg and still shrinking), and other hobbies.
Had a bit of a of quick read of the forum and noticed a lot of my contemporaries have already done what I'm contemplating...trading in the RX-8.
My work has been stationary & desk based for the last 2 years and into the future (subject to the GFC not biting harder so that my current employer gives me the finger). So bugger all time "spent in the saddle" and same for minimal tax deductions for business travel.
The RX-8 has become primarily a glorified school taxi (admittedly a cool one according to my 14 year daughter). It's not as practical as it once was for the current requirements. We do all our family stuff in a Peugeot 307 Touring XSE HDi wagon (which is certainly far more economical than the RX-8).
So after more than 4 years (the longest I've ever owned a car) I am thinking of selling the RX-8. I've done some budgeting (bugger all) & research. I am still recovering from looking at the Red Book price for 2004 RX-8!
This time I'm going for used on a lower budget but still with some luxury features (too used to those from the RX-8), 4 or preferrably 5 doors, and with some potential to go harder without too much effort.
Anyway still deciding on what to go for but an Audi A3 2.0T TFSI Quattro is a one car that appeals as there are some sexy body kits and some nice go harder parts from APR and Oettinger.

When you get to realisation your RX8 time is up its hard to let it go. Its only after you trade it with a more practical vehicle that you get that justification feeling towards your decision. Mind you I still miss the car especially its looks, power and the handling...but I've replaced that with my Harley.
I got my 04 manual with red leather seats and 61K on the clock sold through a wholesaler for $24.5K cash. The hassles of competing with the 200+ on carsales didn't sit well with me. Anyhow, good luck with kiwimeat....I'm sure whatever car you replace it with will be the right one for you.....

Thanks Len,
Very pleased to have actually got it - someone else beat me to it but couldn't do the finance. I didn't give them a second chance.
You're in a S3 LE now I believe (like Timbo) and before that a souped up Polo GTI?
I know I'll miss the RX-8 but it was time to move on and this was one of those car and opportunity moments not to pass up.
I'll be having a chat to Guy once I take delivery and once I've found out my wife's conditions for approving the purchase
