Battery Disconnect

I, regrettably, have to leave my car for three months.
I've searched to see whether the car will forget any vital information if I simp[ly disconnect the battery before I go and reconnect when I return and I can't find anything that worries me.

However, since I am aware that the blokes on this forum know EVERYTHING, I thought I might check whether there is a problem with what I intend to do. Please tell me if there's something I should know.

Ron

Don't listen to Ron...

I think it is ok mate. She will still recognise your touch when you come back. I don't think it will run away for another bloke. :p Her brain (ECU + flash) will be the same.

She may become forgetful and does not remember your fav radio station or how long you have been going out with you (ie. the Trip meter :D only not odometer).

I don't know that disconnecting the battery is wise, becuase of all the information potentially kept in (volatile?) memory.

It may be better to have the battery connected to a trickle charge or similar...or have someone give it a drive at the mid-point of your absence

Might be worth looking what our North American colleagues do over winter, when many store their cars to avoid de-icing salt

read the manual, when re-connecting the battery... you will have to do a few things, cant remember them now.

Well you centainly have to reset the DSC by turning from left limit to right limit.
Change the clock
and
Reset your present radio stations.

And don't forget to leave the hamster some extra food! You'll never get that rotor spinning again without it!

Disconnecting the battery is fine. Guys in the US do it all the time for winter. I've done it for six weeks. When you reconnect you'll have do the full lock to full lock for DSC, reset the auto down on the drivers window and set the clock and radio.

Ideally, put the battery on an automatic charger, but if you can't or are worried about leaving it on for 3 months then make sure the battery is charged.

Thanks, folks, for your advice -- I appreciate it.

Tim, I had thought to have you mind my car for a couple of months but, with the Winning Blue blokes so fussy about their colour, I didn't want you to blow your credibility with them just before your own WB turns up by being seen around town in a lowly Velocity Red.

Ron :D :D
