Australian Flashes

I've read all the stuff I can find about American ECU flashes, especially PoLaK's detailed essay down to the M modified version, but I can't translate into Australian. I see a couple of references in the Australian Forum to G flash in Oz (that I don't understand), but little else.
Is it tedious to ask if someone can give me a brief account of where we are up to in the land downunder, and how to tell where my car is up to without asking the dealer if he knows ?

The latest flash we know of for 6 speeds is the "G" flash. Our cars have different calibrations than the US cars.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Oops - to answer the 2nd bit.
  1. When you get your car serviced, they should check and upgrade.
  2. Checking a sticker on the ECU shows the original flash
  3. Using a scan tool

Cheers,
Hymee.

Further explanations:

* Our RX-8 has come from D to now G. The reason are of the same as the American flashes.
* Scan tool are the system the dealer tech plug in to your car and read off the calibration detail off the screen.

Hi Ron

Great to see another foum member from Canberra.

The guys at Slaven are usually pretty helpful, once they get a sense you know what you are talking about.

If your car is a 2004 build, and hasn't had any flashes thus far, I think it is probably an "E" but may be an "F". Certainly worthwhile getting the "G" flash as the consensus is that it makes anoticeable difference

Cheers

Tim

Thanks for the info, folks. And for the greeting, Timbo. I'm only in Canberra for a couple of days having driven down from Brisbane yesterday and returning there on Tuesday but when I'm home for longer (about October) I'll track you down and buy you a beer (or coffee) (or something).
Might try to track Hymee down when I get back to Brisbane.
Had the GREATEST time last night on that tricky little bit of winding, uneven-surfaced road between Molong and Cowra. Can hardly wait to get back there on Tuesday. What a car!!
Cheers everyone
Ron

Ron,

PM me and we can organise something. Perhaps come along to a track day or something. It is about time someone organised a cruise again.

Cheers,
Hymee.
