OK I gotta ask this question. Do people actually put value in post count?
As an example, Trevor, your post count is currently 200 ish. yet your input around here has been one that makes me forget you have been here since only Nov last year. Then on the other side you have some of the larger post count people who probably would have only half the count they have if every 2nd post wasnt to say that someone else was a noob, they should search, or they have no idea...my ideas are the best, etc, etc.
Basically I am saying I couldnt give two hoots what someones post count is. I think we should have a **** fight count. Everytime you start a **** fight you count goes up...once you hit a certain count in a certain period you get a time out. I know mine would have a few on it :-|.
Anyway...

Ah, nostalgia....remember those days ....way, WAY back, when you'd wake up, get on to the forum, and discover dez had done an all-nighter rearranging his server racks (or something) AND making an added value response to EVERY open thread on this sub-forum. The passion, the knowledge, the wit...the bullsh!t :D
Dez was the original post *****...but he was (is) a renaissance post *****!

When I was new to this forum business I oohed and ahhed over the higher post counts (and wondered if they had a life, lol) but these days I couldn't give a crap.
As you say, it is a yardstick for quantity only, not a qualitative measure of the person's contribution.
And it really isn't hard to rack up the numbers, as we've seen recently.

It would be nice to have some recognition for quality posts, like the one they implemented on OzHonda forum, people can rate a post as good or bad, and it adds up to the person's reputation. It's actually working quite well, people don't abuse it cause if you did get abused, mod is there to help sort out the problem.
