Anyone in Perth?

So far, I've seen two red 8's in Perth on the roads. actually they were both on parking bays, so i haven't seen any on the roads.

Just wondering how many Perth ppl are on this forum? I was told by my dealer that i was the first P plater to have bought the 8, so i assume u guys are slightly older than me. But i haven't seen any of u post (except for one guy whom i forgot sorry) nething on the boards yet.

I'm in the hills just outside Perth and I've been posting here for about 10 months or so.

There's at least one other guy in Perth on the forum, whose name I can't remember right now.

I've not seen that many RX8s on the road, but have caught a glimpse of 3 or 4.

BTW, the local MX5 club accepts RX8 owners and has monthly drive days, occasional track days and various social events. There's also a club called "All 4s and Rotaries", if you're looking to meet groups with similar interests. Both have web sites.

Each has a fair spread of ages, but the All 4s and rotaries would have a younger crowd overall.

thanks mate.

I've seen a red one parked in a carpark near a bed retail store in morley, a red one parked in West Perth, and a black one parked on 'Brisbane Street' in NorthBridge. No other encounters. i'll have a look at the allfours site.

nope. not mine, i am in the process of getting the MS kit without rear bumper hehe.

oh, and i saw a yellow one on Tonkin Hwy (intersection of Leach Hwy). And then i saw another Titanium Grey (or was it silver?), we stopped side by side on Tonkin Hwy while heading into Morley drive and i stayed side by side to him for about 1/2 km and then zoomed off. The middle aged man driving didnt even turn to look at me ... hmmm

aus does get a few decent japanese imports at fair prices. but yeh, so far the ones coming from jap are abit too loud for my taste. more performance and less noise would be nice (dun mind a deep sound, but dun wanna wake up my neighbours)

My supra use to be a bit too loud and i would get bad stuff about how loud it was and usually get into trouble whenever i would start the engine so i was gonna plan to buy an ecv but I bought the rx-8 best choice ever.So I would agree with Yanje

Hi guys,

I'm in Perth but i don't have an rx8. I am seriously thinking about getting one once my daughter is old enough to use a forward facing baby seat. Pretty much set my heart on a black with cloth trim....but i am very keen to hear about your buying experiences. Would you mind telling me what you guys paid and when, and also which dealership you got it at? was the service good? is the aftersales service good?

Thx for any info in advance.

I bought a Velocity Red, Red/Black interior. I went to Wood Bros first, but ended up buying from Parkland because they seemed more keen to get my business (calls me up regularly and never makes me wait i.e. always attended me when ever i'm there.... being a 18yo (turning 19), salespeople/sales manager normally dun pay alot of attention to me.

they throw in the rx8 floor mats, and i asked for exaust finisher/mp3/rotary wheel caps. price was quite good, i know this is just salesman talk, but i promised not to tell neone my price, and i keep to my words even tho they wouldnt care much. I am quite happy with the service... except that they scratched my panel when installing the mp3, but they are replacing it as soon as they order a new one in. i ordered a few parts from japan (e.g. side air strakes) and they put em on for me free of charge.... yes, again they scratched the plastic air outlets, but i wasnt too fussy this time since it was done free of charge. overall, i'm quite happy with the level of service they provided.

Smile I am from Perth

Hi! My name is Daniel and I use to live in Perth. Now I am living in Hong Kong because of work. I bought a RX-8 a week ago and what a Car...! I love it!

The car is great and its been my dream car for long time. Even with the RX-7, I always admire its design and attention to details.

The only thing I do not like my car is rattling... The interrior rattles a bit and its all to do with friction between panels to panels. I don't expect a car like this with its image and its price. Anyone have the same problem that I have? Either then that, the car is fantacstic particulary the sound of the engine...THE ENGNE!

I miss Perth alot and I will go back later on this year for holiday.

Daniel

Smile

Hi Daniel,

I've never had any problems with mine rattling, so I hope you can get it fixed. I do seem to remember seeing a post here somewhere by an owner who had a rattle in the dashboard somewhere, and from memory the dealer managed to trace it and fix it.

Hope you like Hong Kong. My brother retired a couple of months ago and moved back from Hong Kong to Melbourne. I always meant to visit him before he moved back, but never made it. Looks like an interesting place.

Good luck.

Talking

Hi there! Thx for rplying. I manage to chase some of those rattling noise. Some are at the back of the rear seat panels, some are from the rear speaker panel. What I am thinking of dealing with it is to stuff some sound proofing foam within those area and see if it will work. I also find there are some rattling inside the driver's door too! Nevermind, I am gonna change my speakers (there is no Bose system avaliable in HK) and they will do sound proofing for the door.

I don't really like HK very much but there is not much choice at the mo... At least I get to drive my RX-8 to depressurise myself!

Daniel.

Lol, I'm the opposite of you. I used to work in HK and came back to perth last year . Anyway how much is a RX-8 in HK nowadays? I had an evo6 for 2 years, and sold it for half of what i got it for new . Prices of cars drop really quick in HK...sigh. Anyway hope you enjoy your 8!

PS I dont have an 8 yet....still, but im working on convincing my wife that to let me replace our Golf with the 8 lol. wish me luck!

kukubird,

The RX-8 cost around AUS$65K, quite similar to Aus price. It is fully loaded except body kit and no option for the Bose sound system...dam it! Is a lovely car to dirve! Only that it is a big drinker....both in petrol and engine oil.
