Hi All

Just wanted to see if any Aussies use a baby seat or booster in their RX8.

Looking for comments/advise.

I use both in mine. They fit perfectly, I always use a soft towel under the seat so that it does not rub on the leather.
Other than that no hassles, the built in anchors make life a breeze

 

Taka keeps his precious cargo in the rear in a colour co-ordinated number that complements the interior beautifully. I am sure he will let you know the brand/model number

Although the bub is now 6.5 months and facing forward. I am thinking of getting the JDM Mazda Isofix babyseat.

You know there are many ISOFIX seat in Europe. They have 2 harnesses at the angle between the back and bottom. You simply plug that in and the top anchor. So you don't need the seat belt on the seat at all and it is safer (since no movement).

I will take the seat out for Sunday cruise since baby is not coming. But hey join the 12 cars (and growing number) RX-8 convoy this Sunday

YES!

It is because Australian take forever to test a product give their stand of approval and most business simply give up when it takes so long. Their product will become old version or model when Australian Standard is obtained.

It is hard to imagine the leading automotive safety introduce ISOFIX and take Australian offical SO LONG for approval.

I dare ask what is the problem of isofix?

 

How do the kiddie seats go on track days? Do the kiddies stay in place?

 

The hard part, Tim Tam is to get a helmet small enough (or one big enough to fit the whole kid in).

No passengers allowed for track days - adds useless weight! :D

Seriously, once your respective bubs get bigger, you will find that a booster seat fits snugly in the rear seats without the need for anchoring.

My kids are 4.5 and 3 and both are secured safely simply with the standard belt - the booster seat has a strap that snugs the belt down to the correct shoulder height.

The good bit is that the booster seats come out quickly for when you don't need them or are carrying adults.

The bad bit is that both kids constantly kick the leather on the back of the front seats despite many dire threats thus necessitating bare feet travelling. They have also opened and closed the rear console lid so many times I'm surprised it's still attached!! Gets a bit embarrassing when your mates find a small pink teddy bear tucked up in there too. :o :o

BTW, both kids call Dad's car the Rollercoaster!
