What can we say - we're a creative bunch.
Just to steer this back on topic, picked up my car yesterday evening after the recall (and other
) work was done.
PCM calibration seems, if anything, to have given the car a little more oomph, so no problems so far as I'm concerned.
And the starter motor, plugs, battery upgrade is fantastic. :D The difference in start-up is quite startling. Indeed, it scared the **** out of me when I first turned the key, having gotten used to the labouring of the starter motor. Sounded like a F1-11 igniting.
Those who haven't bothered to enquire about this upgrade should do so - cost you nothing and very much worth it. :D

dont think i have time to go back this week
Hmm, funny you should say that Tuan.
I complained about my seat squeaking (Taka knows all about this) and some rustle/slight booming from the trailing edge of the driver's door.
Dealer took care of both problems when the recall happened. Think they did the same fix that Taka got - application of some padding (haven't really looked under there to check it out yet). Wind rustle/booming also seems to have gone (think they lubed the seal).
Having got rid of both those problems, I noticed for the first time that my brakes are squealing a little. It isn't overly intrusive but it is there.
Luckily, they are about to be replaced with a set of EBC Red Ceramics. :D My supplier knows who he is - thanks mate.
Should have bedded in well by the time the Nats roll around (not long to go now).

I got my 8 back after the starter motor, plugs and battery upgrade today. Wow! Quite a difference in ease of starting. I was also told that they'd done the latest ECU 'flash' - but it was done 2 weeks ago at 40K service (and checked out as the recall flash by Taka at Pancake Parlour), so... I wonder if it's been reflashed with the same one or if there's another one out???
Anyway now I've ordered new wheels and tyres, Hymee catback, grille and short shifter. Christmas is early this year!

Do you fly them or work on them?

My car wasn't ready today. Parts failed to arrive after being ordered 3 weeks ago. Apparently there are ZERO batteries left in .au at the moment. At least that's what I'm told.
