Run off the road tonight... crazy guy, in a white van, pulls straight into me from the left lane at 105km/h, I nearly got pushed into the concrete divider. I recovered it, chased him, pulled in front of him, indicated for him to pull over, which he acknowledged, then soon as I was pulling over, he took off again... this happened twice. When he finally realised I wasn't going to leave him, he drove to the nearest police station and we went inside... an hour of forms and inspections later, I'm in the clear and he's in the you know what.

My poor baby now has a smacked up front left quarter panel... I'm okay, really shaken up, has some other really bad stuff happen this week for me, so this is really the last thing I need.

Pepe,
Amazing that you got him to the Cop Shop. I don't know how I'd handle a similar situation. Probably pike out and ignore it.
Well done for not letting him get away with it.
Chris

pepe, it's always painful when u get in any sorts of accident even if u are covered.. as for me, I had similar incident happen to me to the car I drove b4 rx-8 (one of the reason why I changed car..) The guy just turned into left without signalling when we were parallel and fully smashed the whole right side.. think he might have been drunk too =(
I got the chinese guy (somewhat dodgy and probably illegal immigrant construction worker..) to stop but I found that the information he gave me were all fake. even the address that was on his license did not exist... I was quite devastated.. the police does nothing (didn't even make an effort) to help.. always make sure to get complete insurance details no matter what or take the guy's license. I learnt expensive lesson.. hope ur car get's fixed soon with minor headache.

WOW

I guess we have to get all information such as address, license number, rego number and chassis number of the car, and the mobile phone number. I hope this will nail any guy (or at least someone associated with). They can't get away with the excess I have to pay (it is $450 for god sake )

That sucks. The good news is that the Rx8 is apparently much cheaper to fix than the RX7. I'm not sure if I read that in the hardcover book or a Wheels article ...

Well done on getting that clown to the cops Pepe. It was probably the best result you could have hoped for in that situation. It probably scared the Sh*t out of him as well thinking you were going to road rage him! Hopefully it wont happen again.

Pepe,

I hope it gets all sorted out in your favour. I chased a guy one night like that for similar reasons, and he did the same things. Only difference was he ended up driving home.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thanks for all the messages guys. Damage, to panels anyway, is limited to front left quarter panel and bumper. Still thought it felt heavy to turn afterwards, but will get them to check it out. Have to wait two weeks to get it done and it'll take 3 days

But once again, thanks for all the messages of support

In the first year of having my RX7 an old man drove a little too close to me around a corner that he nudged my bumper. I pulled over to have a look at the damage (paint only) only to see him disappear in the distance. So I hopped back into the 7 and chased/followed him. After a few corners he parked and quickly ran into his house. So I knocked on the door.....no answer. What else do you then do but call the police. They arrived and saw the damage on my car and the paint marks on his car. They then went into his house to talk to him. The cop then came out and told me the old fella was too scared to come out and talk to me because I was being abusive.

He did though admit to hitting my car.
