Hi All

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but does anyone know when the new colours will be released?

I rang a couple of dealers enquiring about the white (drool) but no one knows anything??

Thanks

Matt

I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he confirmed Phantom Blue and Whitewater Pearl were coming....dunno when though. I'm sure they'd take orders.

White is a good colour for Camrys. Looks great in the bowls club car park.

I've seen this colour in the flesh. It's pretty classy. I think you'd like it, labrat.

I would have bought white, had it been available in Feb '04.

Agree with labrat. White - The colour of choice for government company cars.

Whats wit mazdas obsessment wif blues? They should have made a better looking green instead of just deleting the nordic altogether.

Who rekons the next most popular color will be white? *me puts my hand up

oh and dont even get me started on galaxy grey But who knowz.. maybe in real life it looks better then it does on the color chart.

Tell you what they should do instead of changin exterior colors constantly - make the interior leather be a bit more custom. Say blue interior also, or grey leather interiors would be nice change.
If you could see my strato blue after a polish, you would understand Mazdas obsession with blue :-D

The pic in my sig ,isnt my RX but its the same colour.
Ill have to get some pics up soon !

Well, I do wear a lab coat. It used to be white, but now bears many proud stains from encounters with various toxic reagents. It serves to protect my designer lab wear chosen from the signature "Chemists in Black" collection, complete of course with our "Labrat" (R) (TM) logo.

Stains huh? Let's not go there.

Speaking of colours - we were looking at the colour options for the Mazda 6. Never seen so many dark, drab colours in my life. I appreciate it is not a sports car but do they have to have so many boring colours?

They had a 6 in Radiant Ebony at the dealer yesterday. Very dark.

Choosing model colours is a difficult art for car makers. They look at their projected customer demographic, research carefully their tastes, likes and dislikes, then scatter chicken bones on the floor, do an ancient Hopi Indian dance and divide by the number they first thought of.

I have thought of a few possible additions to reflect these droughty times when car washing is difficult:

- Dust Beige
- Oxidized White Patches on Dark Blue
- Polypatch Grey on Dull Tangerine (inspired by old Toranas)
- Matt Rust Red with Simulated Holes Rimmed with Salt (for the surfers and beach bashers

I thought it was the Inca ritual sacrife used instead of the Hopi?

BTW, you also forgot

Hail pitted black
Oxidized mustard yellow with orange rust tinge chips
and my favorite
Putrid pistachio went out with the 70s green

I love the idea of a hail pitted surface. I think we should be looking for more texture. However, when you think about it, a dimpled surface could slip through the air faster, like a golf ball. If it took on, we could see the hat on backward set taking off their wings and attacking their cars with ball peen hammers.....

hehehe, 3 stories for you (I'll try to keep them short).

Car colour story

1. Holden created a shocking purple in the '70s that was based on the colour of some pants that one of the designers was wearing. :D Remember the lurid greens and oranges of that period? - they make Eric's Royal Jaffa look like a washed out bedsheet!

Hail stories

2. After the famous Sydney hail storm an insurance investigator was looking for an address when he happened to hear a 'whack whack whack' sound coming from a garage that was up a long driveway (and no it wasn't the address he was looking for). Anyways, he gets out the video camera, zooms up the driveway and takes some footage of a bloke whacking the crap out of his car with what looked to be a golf ball in a footy sock. And yes, his insurer was the same one the investigator was working for. Charged with fraud last time I heard.

3. Before the famous Sydney hail storm I knew a guy who had received an exorbitant quote to have asbestos removed from the roof of a building he owned. Funnily enough the storm comprehensively destroyed the roof and the insurer had to pay for the removal of the debris and a new roof! Funny that. :D
