Any recommendations on the OEM Nav screen resolution yet? I will be adding electronics this year since I am about done with performance mods.
Sorry, did I miss a post somewhere? What sort of recommendations do you want?

Seems like you guys are about to get some serious competition this has been posted by prober8.

Updated CANScan!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was just checking out Dharrison's sight and there is a new RX8 ENHANCED DATA VIEWER comming out that will let you read all(?) 200+ pieces of information you could view from a WDS... even tire pressures and temps . This is something I've always wished for....

In addition, the "Be The Dealer" program, which will let you flash your car yourself, seems to be comming along nicely.

Seems very promising http://www.obdscan.net/

cheers

We will be able to get them first, just not in the first release. We have all the info, no great drama. Otherwise the thing would never ship if we just added averthing as we discover it.

OK I guess to have that product I guess if you can handle the slower data throughput.

Thanks for the hijack, lock.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Tyre pressure. There is no TPMS in our cars... I am sorry to point this out.

After I look through the PCM chart. I think it is pretty much it...

Better to have a hot key (like a function key) to start logging. Rather than me driving and trying to move the mouse to start log. :o

Just curious as to the screen resolution pixel size that will display on the NAV screen. I think truemagellen has it working.

I've been told that the hold up is trying to get the data. There is a bill in the US that is supposed to force the manufacterers to release vehicle specific data to the industry.

Don't know if it will pass...??

If anyother countries have more liberal laws....send us the PID's

Seems like good legislation, otherwise in 30 years time when the 8 (and other fine modern cars) become 'classics' we'll have to search around for some old codger mechanic with a WDS in his backyard to maintain the car....

Surely the data output specs should be public domain (??)...otherwise the manufacturers are acting anti-competitively in relation to vehicle servicing...

Sorry, am hijacking the thread...but it's an interesting topic for discussion

On Sunday, Hymee was in town, so he hooked up the Scanalyzer to my RX-8 for a few runs under different load conditions.

Let's just say the graphs taught us a few things.

This tool is awesome, and in my estimation, a necessary part of anybody claiming to be an enthusiast. Be prepared very soon to be impressed.

Great job Hymee, sco & beta testers!

Taka, F4 will start logging. Set up the stuff you want to log on the live tab. Go to the log tab and select your log file name (and maybe some triggers). Press F2 to start live feed, then when you're ready to start logging, hit F4.

However, you shouldn't be using the computer and driving at the same time should you? ... So set up a trigger to start recording at a certain speed or RPM.

:D

thus why beta tester's should be reporting to Hymee and SCO by email saves the embarrassment :o (like when I couldn't change the gauges :o)

No embarrassment - this is all stuff that is in the manual - which you guys don't have yet.

You will not be disapointed.

I too had an opportunity to see this product on Sunday and I was very impressed. The way the gauges display on the screen makes it easier to read than any other diag tool I have used. We logged Rxeightr's car and converted all the reading in seconds.

I'm buying one also...for what it's worth..

Joint message from sco and Hymee.

Everyone,

We are well aware of the "competition" - I've known about the extended data stuff since before I owned the 8. It is common amongst manufacturers. There is even a area in the SAE/ISO specs reserved for "Manufacturer Specific...".

We received our latest batch of hardware yesterday and testing shows it is all OK, so a release is imminent. We're working on an announcement.

Also, we have much of the the data we need to implement the extended data in sCANalyser - don't ask me how we got it, but we got it. This won't make the initial release, but it will be integrated. More details on this in the announcement.

Suffice to say, we want to have the best scan tool for the RX-8... and we'll make sure we deliver that.

BTW, Attached is some data logged on an RX-8 recently. Who can tell me the very interesting phenomenon displayed by this? (Big hint: Something todo with the intake. Come on all you "lounge chair tuners". :p

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thanks guys for your support - lots of long hard hours have gone into this stuff and it's very rewarding to see it's of interest to you.

I was going to save some of this stuff for a big "1000th" post, but it's probably worth mentioning that we're listening to your feedback and there's plenty happening we've been keeping quiet about.

I know truemagellan wants a full screen version. This is a prototype I'm playing with at the moment (see attached pictures). A GPS is required for the NAV feature - we'll try and make one available at a really good price.

This is all prototype - so usual disclaimer - features and price and ship date are yet to be set - and it's not going to get much work done on it until some other stuff gets finished.
