yea don't forget its on a mustang dyno... on a dynojet probably will add 20-30 on the hp side. either way the results of all the rx8s were similar.

I kindda screw up my map last minutes for cz, so the based is 152.3 hp for zero out everything (4th gear) with 114.2 lb.

My own map did not dyno, coz it is already near to 20 before open loop (the part before 5500 rpm, I dunno why since I did not tuned it).

For Jason Map, it is 149.3 hp.

I guess I will reset all my map and redo it again.

My turn for results! Sorry for posting late. All my pulls were done on 4th Gear. We had come to the idea of pulling 3rd Gears when blksf8 was dynoing (after me). They netted higher numbers on 3rd, now I regret not pulling 3rds :o

Well, here's my custom map:

153 HP 113 TQ

Here's my baseline without Canzoomer:
145 HP 112 TQ

Here's my top run with CZ Stage 2 Map installed (only zeroed the bottom ignition adjustment of low RPM):
156 HP 116.3 TQ

At home, I plotted the Canscan data I recorded and here's the graph of all 3 runs combined:

After analyzing it quite a bit, I have extracted good points from the 2 maps and have made a new map combining those two settings:

...above the first highlighted portion, I took the setting of that range from the blue lines (Custom map) and then took the second highlighted portion from the green lines (CZ Stage 2). Now I have an improved map! I'll be street tuning this one when time allows.

I kept telling them that if since IzoomzoomI and blksf8 ran 3rd and 4th gears and saw 5 HP differences that I can apply that rule for my 3rd gear power :D

^ and you guys got 180 HP average? Is Dynojet really that far from Mustang Dyno, our average was 150 HP.

yea, when we talk to that tech, he said there should be a 20-30 hp variance... but that one guy that netted over 200 to the wheels, now thats a dream come true.

I got 179 whp with just cat back exhaust & 184 whp with cat back, pullies, intake & hi-flow cat on a dynojet (though about 10 whp in the midrange). Basically tells me the pullies & intake hp gains are suspect. If you are looking for an ego inflator do not go to a Mustang dyno.

Yeah, true that. The Mustang Dyno is actually a good humbling agent :D Makes me think I still have a long way to go. Flywheel is next on my list and then pulleys

heres another member that dynoed using the mustang dyno... aparently he dynoed @168 to the wheels almost 20whp more than our avg... Makes you think also does california emission standards has something to do with lower power numbers with 8 owners in cali?

Xyntax, did you reset long term fuel trim (LTFT) as we discussed earlier? It doesn't sound like you did and without that the comparisons might be suspect. A 4th gear run means it transitions to open loop at 4100 RPM, which is right where your blue AFR line jumps up. But a WOT run in 3rd gear makes the transition at 4800 RPM, which means the closed loop portion will adjust LTFT and "kill" your performance up to 4800 RPM. Likewise with 2nd gear WOT which makes the transition at 5500 RPM. 1st gear WOT transitions at 6200 RPM which is right where you made the second highlight.

I do not think it's a coincidence that both your highlighted areas start showing big differences at the 4100 RPM and 6200 RPM marks.

I'm also curious why in your second highlighted portion the map modifications you made resulted in a richer AFR. I assume that wasn't your intent so the answer to that question could prove very informative.

My own plan is to try fine tuning from 5500 RPM and above. I rarely go above 6200 RPM in 1st gear so I think I'll be safe from LTFT. I use 2nd for autocross so that's where my primary benefit lies.

Tuning is a complicated subject and I'm still in the theory stage while you're well into actual practice.

I did not reset for some reason. I wanted to keep it consistent the way I have been running my car for the past few months.

There is one thing that buggles my mind right now. Looking at the comparison charts with my Airflow lines, I have this question:

"Why is there more airflow at the top end for stock (Red)? With CZ on, it never reaches that point. (Blue and Green)"

Now I'm thinking about doing a map without ignition adjustments. It seems like the RX-8 ECU is really good with ignition timing without CZ's adjustments. Just look at the flat AFR and Ignition Line it produces in the stock data (Red).

Anyone have any ideas about this?

when I dynoed back in April of last year on a dynojet, I registered 169 or so. The mustang dyno from yesterday only netted me like 150 or so. These were both 3rd gear pulls.

I just realized this today after looking at another thread with CZ Stage 2 map dyno run. When we dynoed our RX-8s at this shop, their RPMs were greatly off. I was in my car looking at my tach and it was around 9000 rpms already when the driver let off the gas, but the dyno computer read it as 8400 rpms. I remember nhk asked me why I didn't want it to rev up to 9000 and I said I did and it did, but the computer just wasn't showing anywhere near that.

I know for a fact that dyno machines read torque first and then calculate HP with tq*rpm/5252 to plot the HP curve. An offset torque curve would give an offset HP right? Am I making sense here?

I have read (not on this forum) that the RX-8 RPM gauge actually is 500 rpm higher by design so that it make owners try not to hit the real red line(i.e.9,500RPM on our gauge)

hi xyntax,

I think u can cross check with the canscan log data with the dyno graph or A/F graph from dyno (rpm part).

I wonder that how accurate canscan log regarding with rpm.
